So I started learning how to spin yarn today... (Pic!)

As you can see, it's not too pretty, but it's yarn! Progress can be seen on the right, the latest part I've spun.

Got the wheel around 2 pm, and this is where I'm at now, at 6:30. This is gonna be fun!

:bounce:

1. OMG, you're a true addict.
You'll be dying your own yarn next to get just the right colors. :wow:

2. How did you know?
The most awesome DUer that sent me the wheel, along with a metric fuckload of other awesome spinning stuff, also sent me a book on dyeing yarn. :D

I'm off to buy more fiber to spin in the A.M. :bounce:

:hi:

3. Congratulations--welcome to the club!
You'll have a full bobbin in no time!

Have you joined Ravelry? There are a lot of spinners and dyers there, and you can get lots of good information. I've been sucked into the Spindlers group and their "show me your spindles" thread. I ended up buying three spindles this month--yikes!

Keep up the great work.

6. Wow. I'm so impressed.
I've only seen it done at places like those fake colonial villages but it looks like it takes alot of skill. Good for you! I hope we get to see more of your work as it progresses.

9. You will!
I've been reading a lot about spinning for a few weeks, so I had some idea of what to do. There's a big learning curve though! I'm getting the hang of it. :)

13. You can make yarn out of cat fur.
All us cat-owned DUers can send you heaps of cat fur and you can spin it into lovely yarn for sweaters that make people sneeze.
