Man attacks cops with medieval battle ax (Florida)
http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/local/story/Man-attacks-deputies-with-medieval-battle-ax/RvMUHp72vECjt77p2XkK2Q.cspx

PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL -- Authorities say a Panama City Beach motel guest tried to scare off deputies with a medieval battle ax, a knife and a long sword.

The Bay County Sheriff's Office reports that deputies responded to the Sting Ray Motel Tuesday morning after management called 911 to complain that a guest was acting strange.

When a deputy stepped out of his patrol car, officials say 33-year-old Terrence Croskery threw a battle ax and then a 6-inch knife through the window of the motel room.

Deputies say Croskery then pulled out a broad sword and locked himself in the bathroom. When deputies finally got into the bathroom, they say Croskery was unconscious. The man was taken to a nearby hospital.

5. A couple more weeks of this, and the fine-print warnings on the Ambien containers
are going to contain some very entertaining reading. I hope they have to explicitly list every known side-effect...

UPDATED: 4:03 pm MST February 4, 2009

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A surveillance picture released by police Wednesday afternoon shows a man armed with what appears to be a small Klingon sword, holding up a 7-Eleven convenience store.

That same man robbed another 7-Eleven store store a half-hour later, and remains at large, Colorado Springs police Lt. David Whitlock said.

The first robbery was reported at 1:50 a.m., at 145 N Spruce St. The clerk told police a white man in his 20s, wearing a black mask, black jacket, and blue jeans, entered the store with a weapon the clerk recognized from the Star Trek TV series.

11. You really didn't need to say "Florida"
The "man attacks cops with medieval battle ax" part was a pretty good hint.

14. Yeah, actually, it does
But we have a lot of pevs up here for some reason.

It's been a bad week for rogue police chiefs:

STRATHAM – Police Chief Michael Daley has been placed on paid administrative leave after being arrested earlier this month for allegedly driving drunk in North Hampton.

Daley was nabbed in the parking lot of North Hampton State Beach after police checked the area after hours on April 11 and found his vehicle parked there just before 2 a.m.

According to North Hampton police, a field sobriety test was performed on Daley. He was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and transporting alcohol.

SNIP

In October 1995, Stratham selectmen fired Daley. They accused him of fixing traffic tickets, interfering with a drunk-driving case against a relative, encouraging his officers to improperly apply for witness fees, and hurting the morale of the department. Daley challenged his dismissal, and a judge ordered him reinstated the following April. Selectmen ended up paying his $13,000 in legal fees.
