Birmingham (MI) millionaire takes applications for wife
He's a very tall, self-made multimillionaire from Birmingham and ... he's looking for a wife!

But, ladies, if you want to meet him, you'll need a matchmaker's seal of approval.

The Birmingham bachelor, who is 44, drives an American car, wants a family and is keeping his name secret, has hired Janis Spindel, a New York matchmaker with 867 marriages to her credit.

Spindel, whose fee starts at about $50,000, plans to be in metro Detroit next week, "tearing the town apart until I find a wife for a really, really handsome, awesome man."

Why would someone with a seemingly great résumé need help?

"He ... has obviously been working like a madman and looking for love in all the wrong places," Spindel says. "He's had a billion horrific blind dates."

Think you have what it takes to marry this millionaire?

You should be at least 5-feet-5 or 5-feet-6-inches tall and have what Spindel calls the Four Bs -- beauty, brains, a good, healthy body and a balanced life.

To apply: go to Spindel's Web site: www.janisspindelmatchmaker.com.

If Spindel accepts your application, you'll be charged $25.

After that, there's a phone screening.

If you're selected to meet with Spindel when she's in town, you'll have to pay another $50.

And if she really likes you, she will recommend you to her millionaire.

1. well, we used to live in Birmingham ....
nice, middle-to-upper middle class, though I bet housing is a lot less than many places due to the fact Michigan didn't get the big real estate run-up in the early 2000s that most of the country did.

There was definitely a nouveau riche status-seeking element to the area, but that was a more prosperous time.

This guy must still have a job.

4. wow...even being a millionaire he can't find women?
what about the prospects for the rest of us who aren't millionaires?? and he's gonna pay upwards of 50 G's as well? he had to have inherited that money, because there's no way he's smart enough to have made it on his own...

9. and a millionaire doesn't mean much today
when I was kid the implication was that one could never make a million dollars in one's lifetime so you were set for life. I think I thought then that one could never spend a million dollars in one's lifetime but even then it wasn't true. I could spend a million dollars tomorrow to buy a fixer-up house then have no money for renos or taxes. I think the floor for that kind of fantasy has to be a billion dollars these days.
