100 mph boat crash
WAUKESHA -
A Muskego man who was thrown Sunday from a drag-racing boat that can reach 119 mph survived the scary scene and will undergo surgery Friday for his injuries, his father said.
Jacamino Peroceschi, also a Muskego resident, said his son, Joe, hit the steering wheel of the racing boat as he was thrown from it. Windy conditions contributed to the boat flipping into the air.
"When the boat blows up like that, so much speed, so much wind, it tends to blow over," Jacamino Peroceschi said.
Joe Peroceschi was racing on Wappapello Lake in southeast Missouri on Sunday when the accident happened. His father said Joe was taking part in the race as a member of the St. Louis Drag Boat Association.
Joe Peroceschi suffered a fractured pelvis, broken ribs, and he will undergo surgery Friday, Jacamino Peroceschi said. Jacamino, his oldest son, Jack, and Joe Peroceschi’s triplet daughters will head to Missouri for the surgery. Joe Peroceschi’s wife is already there, Jacamino Peroceschi said.
