I need this like I need a hole in he head...I actually HAVE holes in my head:
Went through the MRI scans with the neurologist yesterday and he pointed out one area and said, "see that? it means you're crazy."

I told him I wanted a second opinion and he said, "OK, you're ugly, too."

Had to joke, you know me. What I got here is legions of lesions. Some are myelin delaminations / lesions (MS, of course), some appear to be the result of Lyme disease (no surprise there either), and others will take some further investagitions, such as the ones causing the ataxia in both of my lower legs. Nice brain I got here, yes?

Nerve conduction test next week. Those are fun; needles with electricity shot between them.

More later.

1. My dear Redstone!
Well, sweetie...I don't care if you do have holes in your head, so there!

You think more clearly and logically than most of us who toddle around without any!

Glad to see you posting...

2. THERE YOU ARE!!!
Well, the kids left for college and the dog died, but without you here, my friend, DU just ain't the same.

Sounds like you're into heavy-duty medical stuff, but you're still telling lousy jokes, so I am going to believe that you're all right in the ways that matter most.

Seriesly, I watch for you, and I'm awfully glad to see you, even if the news seems to suck.

Give them hell. Feed the electricity back at them. Show them your power.

And I'll be thinking of you, wishing you all the best........................

3. Depends where the holes are
Seriously - I've done MS research, and a person can have "swiss cheese brain" and few if any problems, where other people can have just one or two, and important functions are impacted.

Not fun no matter what though.

Good luck from back East, Redstone :hi:

13. Crappy joke, not surprising
Seriously, MS is no laughing matter. LTWife is an RN, so she knows a thing or two.
Her (non-MD) opinion is that once diagnosed and stabilized, modern treatments can
allow a somewhat normal life. Godspeed to you, my friend. Be well.

15. Why are Chinese doctors so damn good? This is the fourth neurologst I've been to,
and the first Chinese one, and God damn, was I impressed. Maybe because he's a PhD?

I'm geting hopeful here, folks. Not only did he go through my brains scans, explainig everyting he saw, but also reviewed my blood work and discussed that as well.

I'm hopeful that I ain't dying on you all just yet. Especially since Mrs R has been MAKING use the damn cane, even around the house, so no more broken ribs or noses.

Argh. How come I can't just ignore this stuff and wait for it to go away, as I've done all my life?

You're just starting the second half.

25. Man, do you have THAT right!
I was sailing along fine until one day I feel some shortness of breath and a twinge in my shoulder.
I went to see a cardiologist just in case, and he freaked and had me rushed to a cardiac clinic that
very afternoon. I had clogged (like 99%) coronary arteries, and was about to drop dead from a massive
heart attack. They stuck in some stents, changed my diet, and saved my life. Five years before that,
at age 49, my wife went through brutal chemo and radiation for cancer.

But even so, we came out on the other side (so far, at least), so here's a BIG thumbs up for the OP,
and our best wishes for seeing the light at the other end of the tunnel!

21. Good to see you Redstone.
You've been missed around here.

I'm so glad you found a great neurologist who takes the time to really explain the test results to you. I think that's really important to dealing with it all.

Sending good thoughts your way.

27. The MRI wasn't bad; I always take a nap during those. But seeing all the holes and scars and
"lesions" and stuff was, uh, uncomfortable.

The hardest part was calming Mrs R down because she's a worrier. Me being a Vermont Yankee my was "OK, so whadda we do next? Tell me quick, because I need to go home and get to work."

There's a lot to be said about how my being oblivious can contribute to the quality of your life, yes?

26. That was the surprising part, since I've spent most of my life
doing things that other people have described as being utterly brainless...climbing up mountains that had perfectly good roads to the top on the other side, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes instead of waiting for them to land, and so on.

28. keep moving
I had a patient with MS that smoked and be sure that her smoking arm could still bring up that damn cigarette. All other extremities were stiff though she could not move 'em.So that is my non-doctor advise..... keep moving.Fight fight fight.Don't forget this.

Sorry about that.

29. Thanks for the advice...I've ALWAYS kept moving, not matter what. That's why
I sailed through physical therapy after both of my shoulder surgeries; I was NOT about to end up with a frozen shoulder on top of everythig else.

Good advice, which I'll remember, and thannks again.

32. I've done the nerve conduction test
for my carpal tunnel'd arms. damn computer keyboards.

If you've never had one, relax, they're not as bad as people make them out to be. It sort of a puppet/puppeteer experience, kind of interesting, really.
