I guess I'm a Luddite. (rant?)
I'll probably die never having owned or used an iPod, Blackberry, iPhone, WhizGidget (I made that up), or any of those gimcracks that lets you download 8 zillion tunes on something the size of your thumbnail.

I got all the tunes I need on a 100 disc 'jukebox' CD player in the living room. And it's not full.
I don't need them while I'm out for a walk, or in the car, or while I'm shopping at Winn-Dixie or the Piggly Wiggly.

Posting here or sending emails is all the 'texting' I need.
Or want.

And I sure as hell don't want one of those Bluetooth or whatever it is cell phones permanently plugged into my ear so that you can call me anytime, anywhere. I have a TELEphone in my home. You can call me there anytime between the hours of 6 a.m. and around 8 p.m.
I don't have caller ID so you'd better tell me who you are initially, or I might just hang up.

And don't get me started on facebook and twitter.
I don't give a rat's patoot what you're doing or thinking minute-to-minute, and you sure as hell don't need to know that I just finished paring my toenails or found a zit on my earlobe.
yuck

I find that the older I get, the less I'm interested in the latest electronic miracle.
I am becoming Andy Rooney.
:-)

4. don't have an iPod, or a Blackberry, don't have a clue
how to text and don't want to know.

I love my computer, love cool software, love email and the Internet. But. I want to be able to leave it behind when I leave the house. I have a cell phone because we're rural, and I like to know I can get to someone in an emergency, or that my family can reach me if they need to.

7. I've always been a late adopter of gadgets because I'm cheap and I want mature technology.
After the initial rush for new geegaws the price goes down and some of the wrinkles have been ironed out. I like it better that way. I also don't see the need to replace old versions (like LPs or videos) with newer ones unless there's a substantial improvement in the quality of the visual or audio quality.

Facebook and twitter, not my cuppa. I like privacy too much to find either that interesting.

8. Today's Luddite is yesterday's Techno-junkie.
Phones, CD players, computers with the Internet, cars... Ten years ago Luddites would have been mocking you.

Okay, okay, I know. I'm getting off your lawn now...
