My wifes nephews shepperd came up here and attacked my terrier...I tried to pull them apart and his dog bit me in the arm...then jumped back on my terrier...I kicked it trying to get it off my terrier and it turned on me and bit the fuck out of my face.

6 stitches and a buttload of pain.

defer to a sentient being as it. Glad you shot it. Ever thought of complications to bring another dog to meet your dog? Huh? Pictures?

Happy? No.

I'm sorry this has happened to you, but you should know that not every dog is friends with every other dog. So, they shouldn't have met in the first place. Obviously, you didn't know and killed her. Good grief. I assume she wasn't attacking anyone when you got your gun and shot her?

49. In my experience, it's the terrier that starts shit 99.99% of the time
But, it's a moot point, because this is a lame attempt at stirring shit up and the imaginary dog isn't dead.

51. If you were telling the truth -- which you aren't -- you should be ashamed of yourself
But, since this is nothing but a fantasy, you should just be ashamed of thinking it's funny and cool to talk about killing pets.

11. FYI- How to break up a dog fight.
Grab both of the dogs back legs and pull it away from the other dog. Never get between them.

12. Another method
If possible, spray or throw water directly in the face of the more aggressive dog. A garden hose works well. Keeps you away from teeth but breaks their concentration and is often enough to make them stop.

37. I second water. Two of my dogs would get in fights from time to time.
I made the same mistake this guy did and got bit in the hand. I also had to go to the doctor. My dog lived through the ordeal though. I had to figure out how to change the situation so it wouldn't happen again. And I did.

Once a dog bites it will do it again, maybe to a child or elderly person. It sure won't bite anyone else now.

32. No, that's not necessarily true
Much depends on why the dog bit and in this case, it sounds like it bit the OP because he got in the middle of the fight. Trying to break up a fight with your bare hands is just asking to get bit.

If you don't know how dogs are going to be with each other, it's fucking stupid to let them get into a situation like you did. So, because you're an idiot, there's a dead dog.

Of course, this is all based on this story being true, which it's not.

Edited on Sat Apr-04-09 06:27 PM by hedgehog
You said to ask you anything!

How's the terrier doing?

German shepherds can be very scary dogs. Six stitches on your face is bad, but what if it had gotten you in the throat? It is very upsetting to lose a dog, but your wife's nephew should be glad the harm done wasn't worse.

36. Your response is appropriate.
My son was bitten in the face by my Grandmother's dog when he (my son) was about 12. There was a thunderstorm and my son was trying to get the dog to shelter. My son had 17 stitches and even now at age 35 he has an ugly scar on his cheek. I had the dog destroyed, and I'd do it again. The ER doctor and the veterinarian and the police all agreed with my decision. And suppose the dog had attacked by grandmother, who at the time was in her 80s? Perhaps it is unfair to the dog, but people are more important than pets.

40. I think there are times when it is appropriate to have a dog put down.
Some dogs are extremely violent.

Having said that, it is not unusual for dogs to fight each other. And getting in between a fight is a bad mistake. I understand him wanting to save his dog. No question. But kicking a dog that is fighting results in more violence. He may have just been reacting to the situation without fully thinking, but I think it could have ended better if he took a different approach.

It sucks that you shot the dog, but you can't have a dog that goes around attacking people.

42. I agree with that. But this dog got in a fight with another dog.
And he kicked the dog and the dog felt more threatened. It may not have attacked him if that had not happened. I do understand him trying to save his dog. But a waterhose would have done wonders. One may not have been handy. WHo knows?

47. Dogs act like dogs. Mine is dumb enough to take on a bear.
But to take the time to go find a gun and kill him? That's not necessary, and would seriously piss me off.

This just sounds like revenge. After the fact.

Dumb. Stupid. Unnecessary. Freepish.
