1. Paid? In addition to vacation/sick days? Or is that all you get?

2. Yes, it's paid. But it is also all we get...
for illness, family emergencies, sick pets, flat tires, weather, etc. That's the modern day airline industry for you.

8. Nice. Our governor wants to give us 24 unpaid days off next year and in 2011
In an effort to cut the state budget, Governor Tim Pawlenty (O-Nothin) wants to force state employees to take unpaid furloughs. This move would save almost 1% of the buget, but would be an effective 9% pay cut for state employees.

And yes, this is going over like ham sandwiches at a bar mitzvah among the bureaucrats.

10. It's a pretty sucky thing to do
I'm ready for it (I've been very frugal the past several years), but I know a lot of state workers who work two jobs and they could be screwed big time by this move.

And thankfully, our state employee unions are all together on this in opposing the hell out of Governor T-Paw's little scheme.
