Sad news, fellow Whedonverse fanatics

Andy Hallett, who starred as Lorne ("the Host") on the TV series Angel, died of heart failure last night at age 33, according to his longtime agent and friend Pat Brady. The actor passed away at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after a five-year battle with heart disease, with his father Dave Hallett by his side.

I had the privilege of meeting Andy at a con a few years ago, in an elevator of all places. I had no idea who he was because he was out of the Lorne makeup, but he chatted and joked and was just an unbelievably nice guy. Later on when I saw him at the Angel panel I was floored. He was a phenomenally talented actor and a real class act.

Let's have a round for the great lounge lizard of them all.

1. I just saw - man that sucks

I didn't even like him at first on Angel as Lorne - thought he was annoying but man he won me over big time. Him reading Wes's singing when he was bout to kidnap Connor - or the look he gave Fred on the stairs right before she fell - oh and that final scene with him and Lindsay... WOW. He grew to be one of my favorite characters. RIP Andy. What a cool guy. I'll drink one and have a go at a couple verses of Mandy for him. :toast:
