Jazz...klezmer---world-----blues---don't matter.

What do you like?

One of my favorites is:

5. A rather obvious choice, if you like the clarinet. But just in case you've never heard of it:
Clarinet Concerto in A major, K. 622 by W.A. Mozart.

There is a new guy, tim McLaughlin, who has the real touch for the older jazz.
New Orleans style.

18. Benny Goodman, especially his "Carnegie Hall" live performances.
Some of that stuff will blow you away.

I hope it's still available. I only know about it because my father loved Goodman and used to play him all the time when I was a kid--but those were vinyl LPs...

25. I just discovered them today while looking for something else.
After I posted the link I checked out some of their other stuff.

I found this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADSijJeO3E0

It sounded familiar.

I finally remembered where I heard it. Way back in 1977 I was a first year student at an art school in the midwest. We had a really cool English teacher and she spent a couple of classes talking about songwriters. One morning she had the class meet at a little bar down the street so a friend of hers could play some of his songs and talk about songwriting.

Her friend was Stanley Smith and one of the songs he played that morning was "Blade Of Grass". :)
