Dieting sucks....
especially when carbs and cocktails are 2 of your usual food groups... :-(

I can say no to candy, cakes, chocolate, etc... But put me in a room with breads and a bar, and I'm doomed.

A Jug of Wine, a Loaf of Bread, - and Thou
Beside me singing in the Wilderness -
Oh, Wilderness were Paradise enow!

Just not the cocktails.

8. You can drink it like a Capri-Sun....
Just take the bag out of the box and jam a straw right in that baby!

10. serious question:
Are those bags lined inside? I am thinking in regards to wine and metal and something to do with the tannins

12. I would assume so, but I'm honestly not sure....
The last box O' wine I bought was probably in 1992.

13. honestly ...
it has never occured to me to purchase a boxOwine. I have had a glass out of a box at a party. Come to think of it ... around '92.

Hey! Was that your party? :D

15. who knows?
I came of age in 1992, and being a poor student required me to opt for the "bang for the buck" liquor choices (and when most of your friends are only interested in getting tanked, a box o' wine fits the bill). But the hangovers.... Death without actually passing to the next stage of existence!!!

Really, I don't even think it's good enough to make Sangria. I'll use a bottle of Yellowtail for that.

4. Wine and whsk(e)y are fine on a diet
occasionally.

It's just the sugary mixers you mix with it that are the problem.

But a shot of whiskey or a glass of wine isn't that expensive calorie-wise.

7. My cocktail of choice is usually a vodka tonic....
but on a bad day, I'll put down 3 of them in an evening. Generally, I don't do that with wine. It's easier for me to just avoid the cocktails altogether. And I don't normally drink too much straight hard liquor.

9. Hey, you.....
I did the low-carb thing years ago (Atkins). I lost a ton of weight, and kept it off.

That having been said, I had to stay away from beer and breads and other carby stuff. BUT.....did you know that you can have vodka and Canada Dry Diet Tonic Water? Yup! And while I don't drink very much, if I wanted a drink, that was what I had, throughout the Atkins program. :)

:hi:

11. The diet tonics taste funny to me....
but then again, 10 years ago I couldn't STAND the taste of tonic water so maybe I should give it another whirl. Beer I can keep away from just by not buying it, but liquor? Ummmmmmmm.... Let's just say that my bar is extensive. :toast:

I'm not doing a full-on Atkins thing. Just a moderate kind of crash-diet before my vacation. Nothing rash, mind you- no crazy amphetamine diet pills! I'm just cutting way back on the empty calories and upping my protein intake a bit. Plus a cardio workout of some sort every day... I'm working on developing a taste for Green Tea ( :puke: ), but so far it ain't happening...

14. I'm doing Atkins and I learned to drink alcohol
without mixers. I think it tastes better that way anyway. Currently like scotch with just a little water, usually on the weekend.

I hear you about the bread though. I have a wheat sensitivity and when I was eating it before, I couldn't stop! So now I just skip it. How crazy is it that you have a reaction to stuff you also have an addiction to? :wtf:

16. Although I *can* drink the straight alcohol....
(maybe a nice single malt with a couple of ice cubes), I'm trying to avoid all alcohol as much as possible for the moment. I figured that keeping a little bit of red wine to satisfy my alcohol cravings with the benefit of the antioxidants would be the best route.

But the thing is.... I like mixed drinks. Margaritas, Mai-Tais, Appletinis- all of that stuff! Anything (except Pina Coladas, because I don't like coconut) with an umbrella and/or some kind of fruit garnish, and I'm all over it!
