Damned Twitter marketing "gurus"...how do they find me so quickly?

I build a site that is about personal charity. I open a Twitter account to help promote the thing and within two days I've got all these damned "marketing gurus" following me. Do they just set their accounts to follow all new Twitterers? I mean, I realize that I'm on Twitter to promote my site but sheesh - my blog is about poverty, hunger and helping people out.
