2. Oh, these are just alumni of the *schools*
for a second there, I thought Richard Simmons actually played for the Seminoles! I know FSU hoops didn't use to be much, but sheesh!

One who did play for one of this year's tournament teams is Donovan McNabb of Syracuse. Yes, he walked on to basketball as his spring sport. He was a reserve guard on the Orange team that went to the '96 national final, making him (I believe) the only athlete to play in (or at least suit up for) both the Super Bowl and the Final Four.

http://www.orangehoops.org/dmcnabb.htm

I always thought they should have tried an onside kick with him jumping for it at the end of the SB with the Pats, considering kicker Akers is probably the most accurate in the NFL...

13. Julius Peppers also played in the final four and the super bowl
He was a reserve on the North Carolina team that made the final four in 2000.

I didn't know that about McNabb, but that's definitely impressive.

14. After Allen Iverson was traded to the Pistons,
long-suffering Lions fans suggested that he might be the best quarterback currently residing in Detroit, having led his high school team to a state title.

Alas, he played hoops for Georgetown, which did not have football at the time, or he might be in this elite group.
