2. Cool? In what sense, Charlie? Portland is cool for having the most stuff to do. My
childhood hometown was cool for being both a fishing village and an artist's colony, and where I live now is cool for its historical value. Bangor is cool for having Stephen King.

How am I gonna choose??

a pretty nice place last time I was there.

Editing to say it would qualify. So would Bar Harbor.

10. Why is Pahoa languishing third from the bottom?
Edited on Wed Mar-18-09 02:10 PM by KamaAina
Located on the Big Island near Hilo and Kilauea volcano, Pahoa is pretty much wall-to-wall hippies. When John Prine played up here at the Hawai'i Theater a couple of years ago, someone commented that 'it looked like half of Pahoa had come up here."

edit: caps

13. Camden beats Rockland hands down
Sorry, but Rockland is *very* dog unfriendly. From very unfriendly signs posted about how dirty dogs are and how they cause disease. To a jewelry store owner standing on the sidewalk and literally SHRIEKING at me because, by george, my dog was sniffing "her" flowers. The flowers, btw, are not HERS. They are the TOWN's. And they are donated and maintained by the master gardeners, of which I was one at the time.

Camden, otoh, is *very* dog friendly. From *friendly* signs reminding dog-owners to pick up after their dogs, to bowls of water left in the doors of many stores for thirsty visiting dogs. To Merrysprings Park, with its 2 acre field for off-leash play.

A town *cannot* be mean to dogs and be "cool." They are mutually exclusive states of being.
