1. God, I remember going to the mall about 10 years ago...
and every store had "help wanted" signs... Man, those were the days.. 3% unemployment and all. I remember the people on tv saying that unemployment was too low. haha.

2. Yeah. Like George Carvill used to ask republicans:
Which part of the Clinton years didn't you like? The peace or the prosperity?

3. Because the projected sales were lower than the cost of a print-run
That's why most books go out of print

4. It's because largely...he's right.
Problem is, there's no real definition of a trigger which is what big corporate stupid America needs to do anything. Like a battleship, turning anything big takes time. Our loss.

Herman will indeed make major money off this trend. Book or no book.

5. Uh, I hate to disagree with you publicly, but I'm not sure what planet you're posting from right now
1. "Too many jobs"? Last I checked the job listing section of our paper was thinner than Safeway's weekly ad. I'm sure it's no better down there (actually I know it's not, because you told me it wasn't two days ago.)

2. "Too few people"? Without getting into a much larger argument about population growth, borders and migration, and any number of other issues, I think we can safely say that the US has a large enough population to sustain a healthy economy. A few individual pockets may have a relative surplus of jobs relative to people, but a highly mobile population tends to even that out over time.

6. There is a labor shortage right now.
Not because of a lack of labor, but because of a lack of jobs, right?

Short of the idiot doomsayers, we can all agree that that trend will hopefully change, yes?

Economics. Supply and demand. We do it right, and the demand will be epic and we won't be able to handle it.

Hence the book. At least that's how I read it.

7. Yeah, you're misreading it.
The book is from the boom in the early 2000s, and it's all about how we're all DOOMED! because the economy is going to grow beyond the population and there won't be people to fill all the jobs created, and how companies are going to have to plan for that, not in specific specialized sectors where training is important (that would make some sense- there are almost always shortages in specialized fields, which is why they pay well) but on a massive scale.

Apparently somebody forgot that the economy is cyclical. And that an economy can't outgrow it's workforce for long, because the workforce is also the consumer base.
