1. That's really a horrible thing to say.
Even Ryan Seacrest shouldn't be compared to Dane Cook.

4. I've liked him in a few films here and there
But his stand up is fucking horrible. It's simply not funny.

And My Best Friend's Girlfriend was the worst fucking movie ever made.

5. We're going to rename you Symarrrrrip.
In honor of the Lounge Crusty Old Curmudgeons King.

And yeah, he does suck, though why so many people spend so much time whining about what they don't like instead of enjoying what they do, I'll never understand.

15. I haven't seen My Best Friend's Girlfriend, but Good Luck Chuck
is truly terrible. Cook plays a guy that all the women want to fuck because the next guy they meet will be their husband. Not even female nudity or Jessica Alba in panties makes it worth watching.

23. I haven't figured out why his audiences are laughing.
I've been unable to get more than a faint smile from his act, which doesn't seem to contain any actual jokes.

24. Does his audience actually laugh?
My exposure to him is limited. I rented a DVD of one of his stand-up shows just to see what the fuss was about. One thing I noticed about this particular show was that audience would simply applaud at the parts where people would usually laugh. I'm not sure what they were applauding for but that seemed to be the way they would respond to him. It was very odd. I didn't find him funny at all.

27. Well, I thought that's what I was hearing.
On the XM comedy channels, he seems to get laughs. I've seen a bit of a concert film on Comedy Central, too. The audience was definitely laughing at something--perhaps the idea of the comedian Cook is trying to be, fine-tuning his act via MySpace to mention everything his followers want to hear?

I took him for a collegiate Larry the Cable Guy.

28. the "idea" of the comedian he is trying to be.
It's interesting you should say that. The impression I got from this particular audience was that they were responding to a kind of "attitude" or demeanor that Cook projected when he performed. I can't imagine that they were responding to anything that was actually coming out of his mouth. The bits that I heard didn't even seem to have a punchline--or a point. He just had a particular kind of delivery (not a funny one, mind you) that these folks responded to. I keep saying that the audience responded to him because, like I said earlier, they didn't quite laugh.

30. Not a comedian, then, but a comic impersonator. Hmm.
It must take some kind of talent to do that without jokes. Perhaps even a unique one.

35. It took me a while to like Sara Silverman's comedy
I suppose her humor is challenging, and seems to point out the ridiculousness of stereotypes. I liked her idea with "The Great Schlep".

Dane Cook, on the other hand, is just not funny to me. I'm not sure if he just tries too hard to the point of seeming unnatural, or what.
