I'm probably not going to Prom.

Turns out my cousin's wedding, which is four hours away from where I live, is the next day.

Ah, well, such is life. I'm super-excited for the wedding, prom is kind of silly anyway, and I'll save myself/my parents some money, which can be put toward something I want to go to more.

1. I went and saw Oingo Boingo my prom night

I've never looked back with regret.

2. I never went to prom

and I deprived myself the sight of all my classmates puking their guts up in a motel parking lot at 1:00 a.m. So no, I didn't miss it.

3. Both my proms were disasters.

Junior year, Me and another guy rented a limo to travel with our dates. He welshed on his side of the cash, and the driver got lost.

The next year, I went to my date's prom instead of my own and since she didn't drive yet, (She was 17, just in case someone sees fit to raise their eyebrows) I was supposed to drive, but my car, a 1984 T-Bird, broke down on the way, and we ended up getting chauffered there and back in her mother's minivan.

Take it from me, you're saving yourself a world of hurt. It's funny now, but it sucked at the time.

6. She was (and is) a life long friend.

Hysterically enough, despite all these messes (same girl, both proms) she still said she'd marry me, four years later.

5. I didn't go to either Jr or Sr Prom.....

I wasn't seriously dating anybody at the time, so I didn't see the point of spending a boatload of money for it. I just hit the after-parties stag, and had a great time.

7. I went to the prom my junior and senior year with my now husband!

I had blast. The very next day (my senior year), my class flew to Cancun for our Senior trip!! I have some fun memories from that time.

But is surely isn't the end of the world if you can't go. You will have fun at the wedding.

There's no junior prom at my school.

11. Here I am 30 years later and I still have no regrets about not going to the Prom.

Of course, I didn't like the people I went to school with and haven't bothered to go to reunions either.
