How would you deal with this?
Edited on Fri Feb-13-09 07:26 PM by lightningandsnow
I have a friend who's actually a pretty cool guy. I also happen to have him as a friend on MSN messenger.

Everyday, he messages me, the instant I log on. Which would be fine in itself, right? Here's the thing. He's clearly bored. 99% of what he says is completely inane (like "I'm chewing gum. Now I'm watching House. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?"), and, for someone that talks to me all the time, I can only recall 1 or 2 MSN conversations we've had that were actually really interesting or productive. And, he flips out if I don't answer him right away.

He also has a half sister who does the exact same thing, although to a lesser degree, save for the fact that she doesn't flip if she doesn't get a reply right away.

What should I do? It's starting to get to me, but I really hate being mean to people.

1. Log in on invisible, Block him, then change your status to visible.
He can't see you if he's Blocked, and if you *want* to talk to him, you can always Unblock him at any time.

5. That's why I don't do IM
I know on Facebook you can lo "off" for IM; there might be something in Messenger like that, too..

6. i almost always log in invisible
if i want to talk to someone i'll IM them, and a lot of times people will IM me while i'm in but invisible to see if i'm on. if i want to talk i'll respond. if not, then i'm "offline" :P
