What's the best way to ask your boss about a sensitive work matter?
My department got an impossible deadline last week which we failed to meet (not out of lack of trying; I was at work eleven-and-a-half hours that day), and I'm worried about any fallout that may result.

My direct supervisor is always very frank with us and would probably not take offense at my asking, but I don't want to ask in an off-putting way. Is there an unobtrusive way/appropriate time to ask further? Perhaps more germanely, do I need to contain my anxiety and not put it forward by pressing my boss? Thank you.

1. i think you say exactly that.
I've been working eleven and a half hour days and it's just not getting done, I'm certain I can get it done If I had more time.
