I would like to post in memory of Longhorn
Her death has deeply saddened me. I knew her at first from the pets group. She had a wonderful group of doggies and was very friendly and cheerful.
Then she got sick. And I followed her brave posts about her experiences with her illness.
Not long after that, I got sick..to the point where I went to Mayo clinic to find out what was going on with my illness. For those of you who don't know, I have whats called a "chronic blood malignancy". Its not truely cancer but it is related to leukemia..first cousin to it and its possible that the disease I have (where my bone marrow makes too many platelets) could progress to leukemia.
I much feared this last spring. But I thought about Longhorn and what she was going through and how bravely she faced it...and often exchanged notes about our experiences with our illnesses.
Her strength and fortitude really helped me through a frightening time in my life. I clearly remember her posting about being cancer free and at the end of chemo. I really thought she was just going to get stronger and stronger. Obviously the cancer must have returned. I never once thought she would lose her battle.
I wish I could have known her better...and my best wishes go out to her family during this time of grief. She obviously touched a lot of people. I did not know how much her cheery support meant to me until I read of her passing.
RIP Kendra. You will be missed. You made a difference in my life. I will keep fighting my disease, even though its *mostly* under control and not life threatening at this point.
Thank you for listening.

8. I'm so sad right now
She was absolutely one of the most positive people I have ever come across. I thought for sure she would beat cancer. I wish you all the best in your struggle TZ.

RIP Longhorn... You will be missed!

12. I was so sure she'd kicked it ..
I will miss her so much. Her uplifting spirit and optimism spoke volumes to the kind of person she was.

She never failed to answer a question, return a PM or just send a note of encouragement. Even with all she was dealing with

she had time for me and for many others.

RIP Kendra, you were well loved and will be sorely missed.

13. My dear TZ...
What a lovely post...

She was a true light of DU, one whose joy and compassion will be sorely missed.

I'm sure she's smiling down on all of us now...

She is free of her illness, at long last...

RIP Kendra!

We will never forget you and what you endured...

14. Thank you for this, TZ
I am really saddened, too, by her death. I thought she was kicking its butt, but it must have come back with a vengeance.

Two sisters of mine have had cancer, one has struggled with a recurrence. I know - though perhaps not firsthand - how frightening it can be, and I know from my sisters' experience how much reaching out to others helped them get through it.

16. It's hit me pretty hard too, and I really didn't even know her.
We spoke a bit in the cancer forum, but I mostly just followed her updates silently, marveling at her strength and dignity.

She was definitely one of the good ones.

Thanks for posting.
