Like I needed one more thing online to keep up with and maintain.
I joined twitter a few days ago. I've spent a few months vacillating between whether or not this would be a good thing.

But I was finally sold on my first day at this conference I'm at, when one of the workshop facilitators went off on a tangent about how amazing it was to follower fellow twitters from her home during a Prop. 8 protest after the election.

And then the Executive Director of the NGLTF tweeted during her keynote speech the other day.

Just this evening, I got to meet a bunch of online activists whose work I've followed for many years because of twitter. I had a total geek/starstruck moment when I got to meet some of my activist colleagues face to face after only talking to them online.

I'm still trying to figure out the social networking nuances of twitter. It seems like, if you are on Facebook, just updating your 'status', but I'm learning it's a bit more than that.

Any other tweeters?

1. I tweet.
I am very new to it as well.

I think it is kind of like FB without all of the applications to play with.

2. The FB apps were neat at first.
Now, depending on what mood I'm in, they're can sometime be annoying. I gave FB the benefit of the doubt at first and would complement them on the creativity of the apps as a way to lure people back every day, which Myspace lacked.

I'm sure it won't be long until something captures our attention as being 'better' than twitter. But for now, I like how it helped me meet a whole group of people I wouldn't have met otherwise.

I go by the same handle, fwiw, if ya' wanna look for me.
