Is Facebook just a waste of time, or what?
A friend invited me to join. So I did the other day. From what I gather it seems like a real waste of time. I just don't see what my daughter finds so fascinating about it.

2. If you consider connecting with friends a waste of time, sure.

6. It's very different. Facebook lets you contact them as though running into each other in town or...

at school. You can exchange brief bits of conversation that would never be able to justify the rigamarole of a phone call.

Think of it as being able to select who is at your water cooler, instead of being forced to accept the people you work with.

13. Through Facebook, I have reconnected with long-lost friends, some of whom
I'd lost any way to contact. That alone makes Facebook worth any "waste of time."

17. One of my former co-workers
was at the Western States Inauguration Ball and posted pics... that was very cool. :)

I've also had a BLAST getting tagged and tagging people in pictures from the 80's and 90's. :)

9. Facebook
I suppose it depends on why you are on the site.

I have no real interest in reconnecting with old high school chums, etc.

For me,I like the groups and discussions.

But I can see how teenagers and tweens are really into it.

Still,I am guilty of going on this site a few times a day,
and I am 30! lol

10. I've made some interesting reconnections with people I haven't seen in years
So it's good for that. Also, if you start a groups page it's a good way to attract supporters and you can send out mass notes to them quickly.

I'm sure there are plenty of other things you can do, but I'm still relatively new myself.

11. Not at all
I've connected and/or reconnected with all sorts of people:

An astronaut turned Democratic activist
A high school classmate who produces reality shows in Hollywood
My junior high crush (who gets along great with my wife)
The son of a US Senator
All sorts of state reps and such that I met at DLC events
Cousins who live in Atlanta and who i don't see very often
My friend's hillarious 14 year old son
The world's coolest Catholic priest/beer afficionado/college radio fan

I add friends, and then what? I don't really connect with any of them.

I just go on there now once a day.

18. Yes
It's a data mining, stalker friendly page where you can find out every minuscule detail (That you could give a shit less about)of the daily lives of every member on your friends list.
It is also a great place to find people from your past that you really wanted to leave in the past.
:D

19. I keep forgetting about it.
And my password. I've gotten a new one about 5 times only to promptly forget it the next time I get an email that someone sneezed. I don't like everyone knowing my bizness either, ya know?

We both lived in MN at the time. We now both live in SoCal so we will be getting together face to face sometime soon.

21. Acquaintances from the past must know I'm in Facebook.
I haven't been able to find a single one. Nor anyone from high school, though the high school is listed.

I even created a group for people who worked on my old kibbutz. Nothing but strangers from other years joining.

At least all my Facebook mates are DUers. Who needs past acquaintances, matey.
