I bought a car at the time and got a rate of 4.99 because my score was decent enough. I don't see any reason why it would be lower now. Hopefully good enough to get a mortgage again in the next few months.

The "Fico" score is nothing more than a rating on how much you love being in debt. Now that I have my home paid for and no other debts I am going to do my best to have a score of zero. I don't enjoy paying interest to banks all that much.

... with invocations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, due to countless bills for medical co-pays and treatments I'll never be able to afford. Or the bunch of small credit lines I defaulted on a few years ago. Or the apartment complex that evicted us on Dec. 14 a few years back. Or the credit union I gave my car back to one day before they could repossess it. I'm sure any of them could supply you with the number.

In short, I'll never give a rat fuck what my credit score is again so long as I live and breathe, barring hitting a 7-digit or higher payoff in the lottery.

Hopefully only for a couple years, but who knows.... My wife makes just over $11/hour, from which over $160 is deducted every two weeks for our private health insurance.

My point was, there will never be enough left over for a house or a car, ever again, barring an absolute miracle. But that's okay. We and countless millions of other Americans are in the same boat and we all just either deal or die.

I get to see it for free every month because Providian offered that with my Visa card a few years ago before they got bought by two other so-called banks. My score goes up a little, then down a little, then up a little. You get the idea. The game is fixed so that it never EVER gets over 700. BTW, I'm never 30 days late on any of my bills.
