The Rush ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame Campaign
Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 02:23 PM by Pryderi
Why the fuck isn't RUSH in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?????!!!

http://www.petitiononline.com/xanstar/petition.html

To: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

We, the undersigned, as consumers and fans of rock music, wish to see Rush considered for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

We believe that Rush has earned a spot in the Hall of Fame for reasons including, but not limited to, the following:

--Rush has 22 consecutive gold records, and is fourth behind The Beatles, The Stones, and Kiss in all-time gold record acquisitions for a band. Fourteen of those albums have gone platinum.

--Rush has inspired such bands as Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, The Tragically Hip, Smashing Pumpkins, Primus, Queensryche, and many more.

--Rush's lineup has remained unchanged since their first major tour in 1974.

--Rush has consistently put out records that reflect their own artistic growth and change, without compromising the band's integrity for the sake of sales.

--Rush has a huge, worldwide fanbase.

--Rush has, with the exception of the Test for Echo "Evening with Rush" tour, always toured with opening acts in part to allow said acts the chance to play on "a fairly large tour" (as quoted by Alex Lifeson).

--Outside of Rush, each member has made his own contributions to the world of rock music, through production, outside musical efforts, guest appearances, and so forth.

--Rush consists entirely of men your children can look up to. No scandals, no embarrassing "National Enquirer" moments, nothing like that. Just really good music from generally decent human beings.

We believe that Rush has been sorely overlooked in the United States for far too long by the popular media and the critics. The Hall of Fame was founded to recognize outstanding achievements and contributions to the world of rock music. Inducting Rush will legitimize that claim by recognizing one band in particular that has contributed dramatically to the rock genre while continually preserving its integrity

Sincerely,

2. Some interesting comments
7455. Mentor
I may be 16, but I know good rock when I hear it. Rush deserves more than any other band to be inducted.

14643. Greg Kozarik
If the Mamas and Papas are in, there is no way that Rush shouldn't be in there.

16984. chris
If Elvis Costello can make it, why can't Rush. The Stones made it, and they have NO talent. Get off your a**es and get Rush in you self indulgent tards

20451. CreekDog
I always joke about not liking Rush, but even I know they're fucking awesome!

23241. Paul Whiteside
"Ellooo Cleveland....'elllo??!?" Get a grip and induct this band!

28892. Lee Schaeffer
Without Rush, it's just the Rock & Roll Hall of Lame

10. If Rash, er, "Rush" gets in before the Stooges I will PERSONALLY
cockpunch every member of that august voting board.

It's tragic that Ron Asheton won't be there for the Stooges induction this year. It would be doubly tragic if that festering boil on the ass of Canadian music makes it in in my lifetime.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a fucking farce - most of their inductees didn't deserve it or earn it, and far too many bands and musicians who should have been in there from the beginning still aren't.

Fuck the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Also, they fail to make mention that Neal Peart saved Meatwad's life with a drum solo.

75. Peart is very technically skilled, there's no question...
But listening to him play bores me to tears, much like the rest of Rush, but it was hearing him try to imitate Buddy Rich at a tribute show that made me realize just how soulless his drumming really is. It's so sterile and lacking in personality.

78. My ex-boyfriend is a drummer.
He is actually VERY good. And Peart is his idol.

I would hang out at the boyfriend's house and do my homework while he practiced - he would listen to Peart's drum solos, and then try it on his own, over and over and over....so I got to hear A LOT of Peart.

The boyfriend would be dripping in sweat in about 10 minutes from doing Peart solos - it was quite the workout for him. There are a lot of terms I could use to describe Peart's drumming, but "boring"? Um, no. :)

63. the rock and roll hall of fame is a fucking joke
nothing is less rock and roll than a rock and roll hall of fame. So, who fucking cares? The Snowdog kicks Bytor's ass either way.

70. Because they actually wrote a song called "By-Tor and the Snow Dog"?
And, because Geddy Lee sounds like he's been huffing helium?

He is a bad ass on the bass though.

73. Prog rock is anathema to the Hall of Fame
Note that King Crimson (or Robert Fripp), the Moody Blues, Yes, Genesis (or Peter Gabriel) and Emerson, Lake and Palmer aren't in there either. Queen and Pink Floyd skirted on the edge of prog rock, but managed to do enough out side it to be acceptable.

Dire Straits isn't there either. The band that launched the CD? Wow.
