I just got the nuttiest "remedy" for my phone problems.....
from Verizon's customer service. I got a new phone back in July, and it's been a HUGE hassle. Up until this phone (an LG Dare), I've been very happy with Verizon's service- hardly any dropped calls and reasonable signal everywhere I need to be.

Well, this phone just stops working from time to time. That is- it's on and there's a strong signal, but if someone calls the thing just sits there and does nothing. If a voice or text is sent during this time, I'll get it hours (sometimes MANY hours) later.

The guy at Verizon said that it may be not resetting properly as I pass through areas that have no signal (on my way to and from work, for example), and that I may have to "reset" the phone every time I pass through such an area by turning it off, removing the battery for a minute, then re-inserting the battery and turning it back on.

My response of, "Is that some kind of fucking joke?" turned a couple of heads in the store. What kind of frigging solution is THAT? The phone is clearly crap, and I think they need to just own up to it! He finally put out some kind of "service ticket" on it, but I have little hope that they're going to do anything. My best option now, I think, is to drop the bastard in a bucket of water and pay the $50 deductable to get another one and hope it works.

1. Oh OH!!
Let me. I've got the bucket of water thing down. :)

Before you do anything drastic, if you use the Backup Assistant, back up your contacts so you can download them to your new phone. ;)

2. I still have all of my contacts in my previous phone....
Also an LG- a 1st generation Chocolate, which never gave me a problem.

A sledgehammer would be more satisfying, but I'm not sure how I'd explain it. Maybe I could run it over with my car?

:)

7. Take it to a demolition derby, and tape it to someone's bumper....
of course, do they even have those things anymore? Or did they ever? I've never actually seen one that wasn't in a movie...

4. My daughter had two LGs, both pieces of crap. Her
Chocolate just quit working when it was a couple of months old. They replaced it & after a few months the second one only works on speakerphone. Her ENV has the same problem as yours -- she had to take the batteries out half a dozen times a day to get it to work. Now she's using a Motorola Razr & I have a Krzr -- never any problems at all with them. I thought the audio quality sucked on her Chocolate too, could hardly understand her. The ENV's sound was better, but her Razr is much clearer than either of them. Bottom line, I think we're done with LGs :)

5. My experience has been the reverse
The Motorola phones we've had can't stand up to daily use. My daughter's second-generation Chocolate has been problem free. My LG Env has been great until I dropped it in the water. The LGs before that were tanks. Nothing could stop them.

6. My Chocolate was very reliable- Never had an issue....
Prior to that, I had a Motorola (pre Razr flip phone) that was also good, though it sucked down batteries like a monster.

If I don't get any resolution this time around, I'm going to tap into my innermost drama queen and make a big ol' scene in the store!

8. MY phone does that, too
and I have Sprint!

It has caused some unbelievable amount of trouble, including an arrest and restraining order on someone who was insisting I wasn't "answering my phone" - and which may - even now - result in that person going to jail.

Is there someone I can sue?
