DFW loungers - kitten help
I need some help. I have an acquaintence that is looking for a kitten. I believe my friend is a shelter reject for some reason, even though she is one of those people who would go hungry herself rather than have a pet go hungry or be in any need. Anyway, she is looking for a kitten for a child who recently lost her sister very suddenly. I have gone around to vets' offices and pet supply stores looking at their bulletin boards looking for people with kittens, but have only found two fully grown cats that have to stay together. Do any of you in the Dallas/Fort Worth area know of any baby kittens that need a good home? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

1. An adult cat that has a known temperament might be a better match
Don't exclude them from your search.

2. yes, you are right
I agree completely. Unfortunately, my friend is really looking for a kitten. I talked to her about grown kitties, but she is prtty serious about finding a kitten. I am going to keep working on her, but for now I am working within the parameters I was given. :(

3. Why would anybody be a shelter reject?
That is the question I would need an answer to first.

5. it happens more than you'd think
not having receipts for prior pet care, not having a fenced yard, etc. I don't know what the exact hang up is with my acquaintence is, but she can't go the shelter route. It may just be she can't adopt the pet for someone else.... she wants to give the kitten to a friend of the family.

7. First, I would ask why
I know I am sounding redundant, but there might be a good reason.

Be sure to know the exact details of a problem before introducing a new pet into a household.

Sorry, I don't mean to sound preachy.

9. I know
I appreciate that. This is a person I know from my old job. She has a menagerie of her own pets and they are her life. I was contacted for help because I often know of animals that need a home. I have no worries about the care of the kitty because I am absolutely certain my friend would not put an animal in a bad place, but the shelter people don't have the luxury of knowing their adopters well. I do understand completely where you are coming from.

4. You can do a search on craigslist.
Or even petfinder.com.
