Good morning Lounge
How are you today? Did you sleep good after yesterday's inauguration? How did you like Obama's speech? I watched the whole thing till Obama arrived at the WH. By then it was 11pm my time and time for bed. I didn't do anything at all regarding unpacking. Just watched CNN International (which was Wolf Blitzer & Co).

1. Good morning, MissHoney!
It's a grand day here in the good ol' USA!

And dare I say, it's a grand day for the world at large!

I am still on Cloud 9; I need to go to bed soon, but I'm not quite ready to let go of the festivities of the day.

2. Good morning gf!!!
It was wonderful too watch. I was glued to the TV. And I was jealous of the people who were there to witness it. Even though I had a better view I bet the joy within the mass of people must have been amazing.

12. It's a bit late here but...
I can spend a moment to answer your questions Miss H.

I loved President Obama's speech. Key points for me:
He reached out to those here in America who feel that our situation is hopeless and reminded them that America has seen worse and yet managed to persevere.
He reminded us of what many Americans have suffered through to create and maintain democracy in America and challenged us to not let that journey end.
He informed a struggling world that America was back and ready to reach out with aid where aid is needed.
He told those who would use destructive methods that they would be better remembered for their constructive methods-that if they would "reach out to us with unclenched fists", we would reach out to them similarly.

I have been awake since about 2 hours prior to the inauguration-(the inauguration happened about 9AM my time I think I woke about 7AM and it's just past midnight as I type this)-so I've yet to go to sleep. (That will change shortly.)

I watched MSNBC for the entire event live and later turned to C-SPAN for repeats of the speech. FWIW I had the song "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead" going through my head as bush flew off in the Helicopter. I made a post here to commemorate that, which promptly crashed and burned I fear, (my post silly, not the helicopter!)

Can you believe it Miss H, somehow, the world actually survived President bush!!! His legacy of destruction both here and throughout the world needs addressing next imo. I for one hope President Obama sees to the needs of these people President bush victimized early if possible. I hope that closing down Gitmo is just a start. I'd like to see a whole lot of clean-up done in Iraq to include the repatriation of over a million refugees and the cleanup of our nuclear wastes we left over there.

Well that took me near an hour to write, I ended up editing and re-editing my thoughts too much...I'm off to bed, I'll check back tomorrow.

25. Hey there chknltl
I hope you slept well. It felt just so good to see * leave and Obama take over. He, his wife and Joe and Jill have such genuine smiles it is hard to not join in. And to see all those people there participating in an event that normal is dull ... it was a great thing to see.

I liked his speech as well. And I found it funny that he and the judge stumbled at the swearing in. Shows they are also people who make mistakes under pressure.

Yes, I am really happy we went to see him in Berlin. Gives us an idea how the people felt yesterday. Of course it was way more emotional yesterday.

I had a hard time turning off the TV as well last night. But the parade wasn't that interesting to me, so that was a good chance for me to go to bed :)

Also, I wish I could receive MSNBC here. I would have preferred listening to Keith Olberman instead of Wolf Blitzer. Oh well, I guess better than nothing.

17. Good morning MissH!
Today our country, under a new administration headed by President Obama, starts it's road to recovery.

I watched the speech on C-Span from my office and truly got emotional when the cameras spanned the spectators. People for miles and miles.

His speech was excellent, Strong, succinct, but optimistic and clearly showed that he had already started his presidency.

Stayed up until 12:30 a.m., but then just had to hit the sack. Will suffer today though, but who cares.

 :hi: :loveya:

has his work cut out for him. He certainly inherited quite a mess, and it's going to take a long time to clean it up. But yes, I agree with you, he truly is the right man for the job, is truly up to the challenge.

Gotta go get ready for work.

Wishing you a good day.

11:00PM isn't so late. Here in Australia the whole inauguration was on at 3:30AM in the morning. I had intended to stay up and watch it but ended up falling asleep, although I did tune into President Obama's inauguration speech while I was in a semi-awake state. I had also prepared for the worst-case scenario and had recorded the day's proceedings just in case.

Tonight I attended an inaugural ball hosted by US Democrats in my home city. It was lovely

Obama's speech blew me away. It was one of the best speeches I've heard in my life
