Poll question: So what's the best farewell song for alleged president George W. Bush?
Edited on Tue Jan-20-09 09:43 AM by undisclosedlocation
I keep sticking on Pigs somehow, but then of course there's the very very obvious one. (The real title includes the words, "Kiss Him Goodbye" but I think I'll leave that part out.) I'll take your suggestions and add them during the editing hour; assuming there are any such, eventually there will be an Other slot, too.

19. Lyrics
Hit the Road Jack and don'tcha come back
No more no more no more no more,
Hit the Road Jack and don'tcha come back
No more
What'd you say

Old woman old woman, oh you treat me so mean,
You're the meanest old woman that I ever have seen,
Well I guess if you say so
I'll have to pack my things and go (that's right)

Now Baby, listen Baby, don't you treat me this-a way
'Cause I'll be back on my feet some day,
Don't care if you do, cause it's understood,
You got no money, and you just ain't no good
Well I guess if you say so
I'll have to pack my things and go (that's right)

Well ...
Uh, whud jou say?
I didn't understand you.
You can't mean that ...
Aw now Baby, Please.
What you tryin to do to me!?

13. Lyrics
Rat in a drain ditch, caught on a limb, you know better but I know him.
Like I told you, what I said, Steal your face right off your head.

Now he's gone, now he's gone, Lord he's gone, he's gone.
Like a steam locomotive, rollin' down the track
He's gone, gone, nothin's gonna bring him back...He's gone.

Nine mile skid on a ten mile ride, hot as a pistol but cool inside.
Cat on a tin roof, dogs in a pile,
Nothin' left to do but smile, smile, smile!!!!

Now he's gone, now he's gone Lord he's gone, he's gone.
Like a steam locomotive, rollin' down the track
He's gone, gone, nothin's gonna bring him back...He's gone.

Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.
Lost one round but the price wasn't anything,
A knife in the back and more of the same.

Same old, rat in a drain ditch, caught on a limb,
You know better but I know him.
Like I told you, what I said,
Steal your face right off your head.

Now he's gone, now he's gone Lord he's gone, he's gone.
Like a steam locomotive, rollin' down the track
He's gone, gone, nothin's gonna bring him back...He's gone.

Ooh, nothin's gonna bring him back.

"Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile." sums it up.

14. No need to post'em for me. I know'em by heart.
:hippie:

It's not really the lyrics themselves, but the way Jerry sings them. I dunno. I just figured a goodbye to Bush would need to be something a bit more aggressive.

29. I'd lean toward something more aggressive too. However, I think
He's Gone fits because I believe it was written about Mickey Hart's uncle and the Dead's former manager (very early on) who stole a whole bunch of money from the band and then skipped town (maybe even the country if I remember right). On that level it kind of works for Cheney.

11. Other. There was a thread on this a while back, and I still go with my answer in that one:
"Fuck You" by Damageplan

FUCK YOU I'M THROUGH
I WANT NOTHING MORE FROM YOU
MY SANITY IS WEARING THIN
IRATE, I HATE
YOU DETERMINED YOUR OWN FATE
NOW EVERYTHING IS CAVING IN

FUCK YOUR POWER TRIP AND
FUCK YOUR ATTITUDE AND
FUCK YOUR BLOATED EGO TOO
FUCK YOUR HISTORY, YOUR TRAGEDY, YOUR MISERY
BUT MOST OF ALL.......FUCK YOU!

FUCK THIS, ALL OF THIS
BITCH AND MOAN AND BLEED AND PISS
SECONDS AWAY FROM GOIN' DOWN
GO AHEAD AND PUSH ME
YOUR FAKERY, YOUR BUTCHERY
IS NOTHING COMPARED TO MY HATE FOR YOU

FUCK YOUR APATHY AND
FUCK YOUR EMPATHY AND
FUCK YOUR NIHILISM, TOO
FUCK YOUR BITTER PILLS, TAKE EM ALL, YOU
NEVER WILL
BUT MOST OF ALL.......FUCK YOU!

NOTHING CHANGES, NOTHING FAZES, NOTHING
STAYS THE SAME

FUCK YOUR POWER TRIP AND
FUCK YOUR ATTITUDE AND
FUCK YOUR BLOATED EGO TOO
FUCK YOUR HISTORY, YOUR TRAGEDY, YOUR MISERY
BUT MOST OF ALL....... MOTHERFUCKER FUCK YOU!

20. Although he left in a helicopter, I like "Thank God and Greyhound You're Gone".
I've made a small fortune and you squandered it all
You shamed me till I feel about one inch tall
But I thought I loved you and I hoped you would change
So I gritted my teeth and didn't complain.

Now you come to me with a simple goodbye
You tell me you're leaving but you won't tell me why
Now we're here at the station and you're getting on
And all I can think of is thank God and Greyhound you're gone

Thank God and Greyhound you're gone
I didn't know how much longer I could go on
Watching you take the respect out of me
Watching you make a total wreck out of me
That big diesel motor is a-playing my song
Thank God and Greyhound you're gone.

Thank God and Greyhound you're gone
That load on my mind got lighter when you got on
That shiny old bus is a beautiful sight
With the black smoke a-rolling up around the taillight
It may sound kind-a cruel but I've been silent too long
Thank God and Greyhound you're gone.

Thank God and Greyhound you're gone...

25. Just go Away (it was an early Blondie song):
O Don't ya know
Don't wanna see you any more
Put up or shut up
You spell, you read
D O O R
You got a big mouth and
I'm happy to see
Your foot is firmly
entrenched where a
molar should be
If you talk much louder you
could get an award
From the federal
communications board

Don't be cruel
Be a thing-sweet thing as a rule
Don't be sad
I left you in the
street, you're pre-fab
I had to get away

Don't go away sad
Don't go pre-fab
Don't go be bad
Don't go away mad
Just go away (go away)

O Don't ya know
Don't wanna see you here no more
Pack it and move it
You spell, you read O U T out

Don't be bad
A mad hatter's beret
Sometimes you look like you
just mad an escape
Don't be mad
Or lose your medicaid cool
Of course cool rhymes with fool

Don't go be bad
Cause you been had
Don't go be sad
Don't go away mad
Just go away (go away)

O Don't ya know
Don't wanna see ya curse and pout
Pack it and move it
Ya spell, ya read O U T out

You got a big mouth and
I'm happy to see
Your foot is firmly
entrenched where a
molar should be
Don't be mad or lose
your medicaid cool
Of course cool rhymes with fool

Don't go pre-fab
Cause you been had
Don't go be sad
Don't go away mad
Just go away (go away)

Don't go pre-fab
Cause you been had
Don't go be sad
Don't go away mad
Just go away (go away)
Go away and stay away

30. "I Hope You Die" by The Bloodhound Gang works for me!
...You must die I alone am best!
I hope ya flip some guy the bird,
He cuts you off and you're forced to swerve,
In front of the Beatles' tour bus,
A Bookmobile and a Mack truck,
Hauling hazardous biological waste,
The light turns red you have no brakes,
And "Hard Copy" gets it all on tape,
So you can see the look on your face,
...Die Die Die Die Die Die Die!,
...Die Die Die Die Die Die Die!,
I hope your Pinto begins to spin,
Takes out a disabled Vietnam Veteran,
Mows down a Nobel Peace Prize Winner,
And maybe some orphans having Christmas dinner,
Perhaps even the British Royal Family,
And the Rabbi that's clutching the bottle-fed puppy,
And we can't forget the newlyweds,
And those Jerry's Kids are as good as dead,
I hope this helps to emphasize,
I hope this helps to clarify,
I hope you die,
I hope your cellmate thinks he's God,
But C.N.N. refer to him as "Bowling Ball Bag Bob",
Serving time again for abuse of a corpse,
Only this time the victim's a Clydesdale horse,
While he masturbates to photos of livestock,
He does the "Silence of the Lambs" dance to Christian Rock,
Eats feces and quotes from "Deliverance",
And fights with his imaginary playmate Vince,
...Die Die Die Die Die Die Die!,
...Die Die Die Die Die Die Die!,
I hope he grins like Jack Nicholson,
And forces you to play a game called Balls On Chin,
And whatever happens next is all a blur,
But you remember "fist" can be a verb,
And when you finally regain consciousness,
You're bound and gagged in a wedding dress,
And the prison guard looks the other way,
'Cause he's the guy ya flipped the bird the other day,
I hope this helps to emphasize,
I hope this helps to clarify,
I hope you die,
...I hope you die!.
