My team actually finished 2nd in the nation.
I know it's not the championship, but that's still amazing.

Seriously, when this season started, I was thinking 10-2 at best.

But 2nd? Never before has those heights been reached by Utah football.

But now they have.

First it was 4th in 2004 and now 2nd in 2008.

By 2012, we'll surely break through and finish first, right?

I can only hope.

What a ride!

3. Hey, in the Jobycom poll, you're #1.
Utah was not only undefeated, but they beat Alabama and Oregon State, OS beat USC, and Alabama beat Ole Miss, who beat Florida and Texas Tech. Texas Tech beat Texas, who beat Oklahoma.

So Utah was undefeated and they beat common opponents of all the one-loss teams. If there is such a thing as a national champion, they should be it.

Here's the JC Poll: 1) Utah, 2) Texas, 3) Florida, 4) USC, 5) Alabama, 6) Oklahoma, 7) Penn State, 8) Ohio State, 9) Texas Tech, 10) TCU.

Explanations: Texas's one loss was to an undefeated team, and they lost on the final possession. Florida lost at home to an unranked team who lost to Wake Forest and Villanova, so Texas has an edge over Florida (both beat OSU, their only common opponent). USC lost to an unranked team, but on the road.

Of the two loss teams, Oklahoma and Alabama are a tossup--both teams' only losses were to one-loss or undefeated teams, and in an odd twist, both teams lost both games at neutral locations. Both lost to Florida.

I have a vote in the BlogPoll and I've put Utah at number one. :)

5. Congrats on a great season!
The Utes are a terrific team. Alabama took them waaaaaaaay too lightly, and got their asses kicked!
