My wife assures me that we're far enough back from the river to be safe, and I checked Pierce County's evacuation map; we're not on it. But still, when you live on the flood plain of a river, you tend to remember why it's called a flood plain. :scared:

4. Stay dry-- but first, stay alive.
Hope all turns out well for you and yours. It looks really bad from the aerial shots of Orting. I-5 has been closed and Chehalis looks like a repeat of the last major flood.

5. Do you have all the important stuff in one place
and ready to take with you if you have to leave? My sister had her kids each pack those giant Ziploc bags (3' tall) with a sleeping bag, toiletries and clothes when they had wildfires in Oklahoma a few years ago. Just in case...

Be safe.

6. Thanks, lizziegrace. We've got a "disaster" backpack all ready to go, if needed.
Funny thing is, it was a Christmas gift from my dad. It weighs about a ton, and has everything we'd need in an emergency. I think we'll be okay, but it's still raining like hell outside...

11. no, they just play musical houses
one sneaky bastard breaks his family up in two and takes an extra, it's why they have so many kids

and when the last family standing realizes they're out of luck the head of the household has to wear a T on his forehead letting everyone know he'd been "Trumped"

15. Could be worse.
If you're that close to the Puyallup River, then you're really fucked when Rainier blows up. Apparently the whole valley used to be a lot deeper before the last eruption.

Then again, the media is totally full of shit in their coverage so far. King 5 was issuing warnings to Orting earlier today to watch out for the Deschutes River. Which isn't even in the same fucking county as Orting.

18. Great news! it stopped raining. But I drove past the Puyallup River on my way to school this morning
and it had surpassed its banks by probably a foot or so...

If the rain holds off long enough, I think we'll be okay...
