If you were Neil Armstrong, or any other astronaut who walked on the moon....
....do you think the rest of your life post-moonwalk would have been anti-climatic? I mean, you walked on the moon. How on earth (literally) are you ever going to top that? You're one of a few handful of people in entire human history to actually fly up to that celestial body the rest of us simply stare at, and you got to actually walk around it.

That's just one of those things that makes me think.

1. I think Buzz Aldrin went through that.
He was treated for clinical depression and alcoholism, though I'm sure he suffered from that before he even joined NASA and the lunar mission aftermath brought it to a breaking point

2. Easy. I'd work on building my own rocket ship to fly to another planet, like Mars and be the first
astronaut to have a DIY rocket and to walk on Mars.

Those Martians seem so friendly too.

7. Alan Bean turned to art
Alan Bean
Bean resigned from NASA in June 1981 to devote his full time to painting. Many of his paintings reside on the walls of space enthusiasts. He said his decision was based on the fact that, in his 18 years as an astronaut, he was fortunate enough to visit worlds and see sights no artist's eye, past or present, has ever viewed firsthand and he hopes to express these experiences through the medium of art. He is pursuing this dream at his home and studio in Houston.

9. Has anybody else watched the post Apollo 11 press conference?
http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=-RcKLAo62Ro

Why are they quiet, scared, ashamed????

Now, if you had just done the greatest technical accomplishment in history -- walking on the moon -- and getting back safely due to the work of thousands of people -- wouldn't you be ECSTATIC???? Wouldn't you be incredibly happy?

Why do they look so sad and afraid???

Wouldn't this indicate the moon landing was a hoax and they were threatened with their lives?

This just doesn't add up to joy and happiness, folks......

:wtf:

10. Maybe I'll watch that, maybe I won't.
What I've never seen is a really good reason for why it was a supposed hoax. I grew up in the neighborhood that most of the Apollo astronauts lived in. I played with and went to school with their kids. If this was a hoax, then they would have had to silence far more than just the astronauts. Try about 4000 to 5000 NASA employees, another 10,0000 contractor employees and all the neighbors around them.

Why spend all that money, time, effort and imagination on a hoax?
Unless you (the gov'mint) is trying to get into a war with someone, then I have yet to see a legitimate reason for this being a hoax.
