1. We're just above SNOW! tonight and will see JACKET WEATHER tomorrow.
Then, this summer, we'll be treated to some of that good ol' DUBAI HEAT WAVE (here in Vegas).

I'm happy now. Ask me again in 7 months.

Italians ain't so bad at it, either, especially at holiday functions!

My uncle became something of a Republican after 9/11 (he lives in Nyack, NY, just north of NYC), so it can get... strident.

:-)

6. No need to thank us...
after the freezing rain turned most of WI into a treacherous pseudo-skating rink we decided to share it with TX, ya know in the spirit of blue state/red state unity

7. It's not that bad. I just went to the store.
Well, it's cold. And wet. And somewhat icy. But it hasn't yet graduated to the "shit-get-off-the-roads-100-wrecks-an-hour" icy. :D

The chart in the OP is awesome. :D

19. Keeps the state from getting crowded...
I'll be here in my armchair, with the free heat cranked up, a warm, very fluffy cat purring on my lap, and just watch the economies of the sunbelt states collapse as the infusion of retiring baby-boomers flee southwards.

Goods and services will be unable to flow on the highways as they are clogged with Cadillac-driving retirees driving 35mph in all available lanes. Left blinker eternally on, seatbelt tab sparking off the pavement, and the only visible part of the driver is two sets of knuckles on the steering wheel and the top of a golf cap peeking up.

Besides, in 6 months I'll be laughing my ass off at the people sweating it out in 115º heat. "Boy, it was almost 80 here... I came this close to turning the air conditioning on!"

Here's the thermometer on my deck Friday night. And, yes, this is cold, even for Anchorage. This is the third longest cold snap here in history, according to the paper. http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/642669.html "The coldest spot in Alaska on Sunday? In the Interior. The O'Brien Creek area along the Taylor Highway recorded minus 65."

23. Is it 5/9ths or 9/5ths? I can't remember.
Ah, hell, it's 61 degrees Fahrenheit here now and the high will be 55 tomorrow. I know the 55 might be classified by some as jacket weather, but I don't know where to classify the 61 degrees. I'm so thoroughly confused. :/

25. subtract 32, then do the 5/9th thing.
That'll get you from Celsius to Farenheit.

61-32=29

29*5=145

145/9=16ºC

Unless it's -40 out. Then it doesn't matter which scale you use!

teaching mainly American students in Switzerland. It'll be a great ice breaker to help familiarize American students with the metric system.
