We should all move
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 01:22 AM by ChiefHappyButt
I am now working, and have done so for many years, in the social service field. fuggetaboutit! The money's gone!

I have relatives who have spent a lifetime in the advanced computer fields - fuggedabout it! The jobs are somewhere else!

I have Republican relatives that I wish no ill will on, except for maybe,

the sister that is the repuke to the nth degree, and is too dumb to realize she is being phased out of existence monetarily by the pharmaceutical companies and insurance. I wouldn't want to be in her shoes. It must cost more now to be a doctor than it does to pay back the interest on the loans.

How many have doctors today with pronouncable names?

My sister is fighting against a wall, no, an imprenitrable fortress of foreign doctors that get paid shit and have shit hoops to jump through before they can prescribe.

Do you have a doctor with a name that is other than European?

This is not meant to inflame. I think if people are honest they will tell me how many times they have been sent to a specialist, and that person is not even from this country.

Do you trust foreign doctors? I guess we have to.

1. WTF!?!?!?
Are you serious? Are you sure you're posting on the right forum?

Try to remember that no one but the American Indians were here originally. We are all immigrants of some sort. Your xenophobia is very disturbing and doesn't really have a place in this century.

Oh, and my doctor is Japanese and he fucking rocks!

4. I'm glad you have a good doctor
most don't. If you look at the clinics, the free and sliding scale ones, they are all populated by imigrant doctors.

My point is they are not necessarily bad, but that why aren't american doctors available?

Outsourcing in this area has become so pervasive that it is not even realized.

Why, when you go to a doctor, is he/she always foreign?

9. Perhaps
That might be because Americans doctors are so focused on making money and gaining prestige that very few of them are willing to work for wages that they consider below them. Many foreign born doctors are just happy to be working in their chosen field and don't have such a sense of entitlement.

What do you have against foreign doctors and why do you assume that since they are foreign that they are not competent? I hope you realize that you can't call this job outsourcing since the jobs are remaining in our country. What you are describing to me appears to me to be good old fashioned ethnocentricity. You don't seem to trust foreign born doctors, you haven't even commented on anything other than their ethnicity like training, experience, etc.. Why is that?

2. I've heard a couple stories about Americans
being offered jobs in the countries that are "importing" our jobs. The anecdotal evidence suggests that Americans in IT are considered valuble still. Of course you would be making the equivalent of $800 each month, but you would have the standard of living of someone making $200000 per year in the US.

7. You can tell someone is American by their name alone?
I never knew anyone who could do that!

6. I've just heard about this from my Indian professors who
have friends (who happen to not be Indians, but native born, English speaking, etc. Americans) who were offered jobs when their stateside offices closed. I'm not sure if this is a rare phenomenon or not, so go check it out if you can. Does monster dot com have job openings in Calcutta and Bombay?

8. I've seen one job for India and another for Hong Kong.
Applied for both and got the usual non-response. As for doctors, I have a cousin who graduated from medical school several years ago. He was in Philadelphia, and the highest salary he could get there was $80,000. The insurance companies have ruined that occupation. I'm unemployed as a computer programmer. Paralegals, lawyers, and accountant jobs are suppose to be going overseas now. All the good jobs are going. Expect the standard of living to start dropping.
