mine dies, too, thanks to the dog hair.

It just overheats and shuts down. So have to clean the filter dump the hair, and wait a bit.

Maybe if you give it some time, it'll start up again.

8. may I recommend an inexpensive replacement?

I paid $35 for a Dirt Devil lightweight four years ago. FOUR YEARS. It has lost no suckage. It has a hose and attachments. That was the sale price; the regular price is $49 I think. It's a workhorse. I'm always picking up pencils and socks and various things.
