1. We're having steak and ribs.
Salad.
Green beans.

And who knows what else.

Not exactly what was planned, but hey, I can go for ribs any day of the week!

3. We ate at my Mom's last night, and at my stepfathers Dad's house today.
Last night we had:

Ham, fried smelt, sweet potatoes, deviled eggs, potato salad, and fried cabbage with bacon.

At my step-grandfather's house today we had:

Ham, roast chicken, potatoes cooked with cheese and onions, onion and sage stuffing, fresh corn, green beans, asparagus, steamed shrimp, gingerbread cookies, eggnog, and some of the Christmas candy I made for everyone.

:hi:

Edited on Thu Dec-25-08 08:43 PM by GinaMaria
with oven-roasted potatoes, baked croissants, veggies in cheese sauce and little key lime pies for desert and washed the whole thing down with a bottle of Asti! I'm ready to open another bottle.

Have a great holiday. I'm sure your wife loves how much you appreciate the meal. Hope you showed her the thread!

12. My sister almost set the ham on fire
It was smoking, not steaming, but we found some inner portions that weren't crispy. She baked it for the recommended time per lb and never checked on it, which isn't surprising with 2 small children around. And I could have checked on it at some point myself. I can't criticize her because 1) I baked the rolls in a dark pan so some of the bottoms were lightly burned (use glass next time) and 2) Since I'm normally cooking for 1 I never bake a 10 lb ham, so I probably would have done the same thing.

We still had a great day, so we didn't really care.

13. Aside from the crescent rolls, I'd swear you were related to me : )
'cept they had leg of lamb this year... (though my mother mentioned that she thought it was mutton... not sure why, other than it must have been rather flavorful).

And we usually have brussels sprouts with chestnuts...

Oh, and, by the way... yes, you are lucky. So is your wife - as you recognize and acknowledge your luckiness. I'm guessing she does, too! Thanks for the vicarious gastronomic appreciation you've offered through sharing : )

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!

I had, um... I've had some white grape juice and, um... a hunk of sourdough bread so far - not to emphasize misery, I've just been keeping busy with other things (unfortunately I wasn't with my family this year).

19. The cleanup is really easy here
Unfortunately, all that's open near the hotel is a gas station convenience store.

If you did the cooking, the cleanup should NOT be your problem! If you didn't, you should have lots of help!

20. I made turkey with stuffing and gravy. Carrots and broccoli. Then we had plumb pudding
with hard sauce. Was yummy if I do say so myself. We had someone over for dinner originally from China. It was his first turkey dinner and he loved it.
