It's Friday...what's for dinnah, DU?
It's 5:30 on the east coast, time to start thinking/talking about food and make the west coast hungry.

I might do a Celebration Roast I picked up today. I might also just have a huge salad.

You?

1. Rotelle in a spiced nutritional yeast sauce. Breaded and fried seitan mini cutlets.
That sounds better than "mac and cheese with chick'n nuggets," no?

I had to look up Celebration Roast coz I've never heard of it before. It sounds delicious, I'd try it.

What no tots with that?

It's Friday so, as usual, it's pizza night here. Last week's meatless, but not vegan, offering:

6. That looks yummy.
Do you order from the same place (the usual) or spread the pizzaperience around?

10. I made that one
as I do every pizza we have. Pizza in this god-forsaken place is a sorry joke.

7. Exactly...Heat up the syrup, pack fresh snow into pie pans,
pour hot syrup on and it hardens like candy. So good and fun. :hi:

8. Nope, I never did that.
My mom cursed the snow. Bringing it into the house would've garnered me a shovel to the tush.

11. Ah, well I grew up on a farm with a sugarhouse, so...

We also had a pig that would come to the door for breakfast in the morning. Farms are fun. :)

4. Veggie stir-fry over rice.
Or, I have 1/2 a Celebration Roast - I could put that alongside the veggies.

Don't know where yet.

One of our assistants was handing out scratch-off lottery tickets for Christmas. My scratch-off was a winner! :bounce:

Homemade, fresh today. It's a frickin' cold-ass make a long-simmering pot of soup kind of day.

16. Yesterday's homemade beef stew, ALWAYS better on the second day.
Normally I do the straight beef-carrots-potatoes version, but yesterday I also added some frozen peas and a jar of Green Giant sliced mushrooms. Killer stuff. Safeway sells an excellent grade of "boneless stew beef" (chuck roast). A 1-1/4 LB. package cost me $5.39 and provides three big dinner portions of stew.

18. Sushi.

It's not fish, it's the rice-vinegar-infused glutenous rice shown here with nori. The word sushi means "it's sour" in an archaic dialect of Japanese and is a very apt descriptor of the prepared rice dish.

The fish dishes that people think of when they think of sushi in the US are known by a number of names which typically describe the construction:
Makizushi (巻き) - rolls with the additional ingredients in the middle. (This is what most Americans think of when they think sushi.)
Nigirizushi (にぎり) - hand-formed lumps topped with additional ingredients, usually a filet of premium fish.
Chirashi-zushi (ちらし) - a loose bowl of sushi topped with veggies and/or seafood.

The seafood or meat component when served alone is called sashimi.

The rice is the best part though, except the nori and the cucumber and the avocado...oh and the wasabi and the pickled ginger...mmm, and tamari. I can't forget the tamari.

19. Well I do this special little dish. A lot of people seem to enjoy it.
It's really the only thing I like doing these days.

Sizzle up some sliced boneless chicken breast ( bite size ) in olive oil and then start adding things. Garlic, oregano, ginger, curry. And for goodness sake, cayenne pepper. Splash a little beer on when it gets too noisy. Also a little Texas Pete's hot sauce or Louisiana's or your fav.

Then add chopped red, green and yellow pepper, onions, shrooms. Keep stirring and keep adding the spices. Serve on rigatoni or your favorite pasta. Or rice. Or on a wrap. Several ways to do this. Different meats can be used.

Have had good luck with it over the years. Some days, I just can't wait to go home and cook it up.

22. A box of milk duds and maybe a bag of chips.
Trying to have a decent meal when I'm working 6 PM to 2:30 AM is futile.
