Musical Lounge Lizards! Can ANYONE identify this song or artist?

It's been driving me batty for years.

I first heard it on CFNY Toronto in 1991 and made a copy of it. I've never heard it since, and have no idea who wrote it. I used the lyrics I can remember to search the internets and I finally turned up a snippet of it here;

http://www.spiritofradio.ca/SongComments.asp?SongID=2009

And they don't know either!

Anyone have any clue?

1. Take a look at this google link
many artists, several different songs, different lyrics.
Don't know that song you're looking for, but maybe it's here:

2. Well, the problem with that is that it comes up as a title.
Believe me, I've tried everything I could think of. The only possibility of finding out is to get the attention of someone who knows something about it. My last resort is to call Dani Elwell, the host of 'Headphones Only' on CFNY from '89 - '92, and ask her.

Thanks for giving it a shot, but the lyrics are not cataloged anywhere on the web that I've seen. Otherwise the keywords "Wave station" and "truth that we cannot deny" would yield results.

So did you play the clip?

3. the singer's voice sounds familiar but could not place it
Was thinking maybe Soup Dragons or Tears For Fears, but not quite right.

Best bet is to ask the radio station DJ.

4. It just seemed to have a nice roll to it.
There's a refrain in the piece that's nifty too.

It's just been driving me crazy for about 17 years now.

7. ....
:yourock:

(pun intended)

This has been my biggest challenge ever... well, next to a piece I heard once, can't remember the lyrics for, but listened to the litany of artists the DJ read off after the one hour block and looked for it under each and every one but never found it.

So, I decided I wanted the song more than the challenge and came here hoping a bunch of flatfoots could get a bead on it.

I got a gold star here for the first person to pull it up.

But that isn't a song.

So that means NOTHING is on the internet that points to this song.

And every other lyric I search for that you provided brings up the link in your post.

Sorry. :(

16. It really does
But I doubt it is, if it was 1991.

17. Just sent this clip off to a friend ...
... who has worked in the Toronto music biz for decades. CFNY was known for promoting local talent, and it's possible this was a Canadian band who didn't get much (or any) airplay in the States.

I'll let you know if/when I hear back from him.

19. Oh you so rock!
I can't tell you how great Dani Elwell's show, "Headphones Only" was.

She'd read bits of poetry and prose her listeners would send in. Somewhere I have an entire show on tape with a piece of entrancing prose on it.

Thanks Nance!

I find this interesting, as it seems to be truly obscure.

Because of the time period and the vocals, I was thinking maybe the group Living Colour- but I'm probably completely off; and the fact that nothing came up on a google search of the lyrics makes me think it's a much less well-known artist/group.

It's definitely an intersting snippet.
