1. A.J. from the parking lot!
as he used to say when he announced for the New Orleans Jazz. (Utah, you're on notice!)

The modern-day twist on that: In NOLA, "downtown" is a direction (downstream from Canal Street along the Mississippi), so the area with all the tall buildings, and the New Orleans Arena, is called the Central Business District, or CBD. Meanwhile, Hornets superstar Chris Paul wears No. 3, and so is known as "CP3".

Here it comes: "CP3 from the CBD!"

2. Ah yes, the iconic Jazz announcer who is drunk half the time when calling the games.

Hots is a legend in Salt Lake, we love him!

"A gentle push, a mild arch, and the ol' cowhide globe hits home!"

6. See #1 above

Years ago, a fellow hoops fan and I devised a scheme to bring an NBA expansion team to NOLA, to be called the "New Orleans Tabernacle Choir". :P

8. DO IT!
I love my Jazz and would really be heartbroken if they ever changed their name. Mostly because soooo many memories were created under the Jazz banner.

First playoff appearance in franchise history.
First 50-win season in franchise history.
First 60-win season in franchise history.
First playoff victory in franchise history.
First division championship in franchise history.
First conference championship in franchise history.

And hopefully...

First championship in franchise history. :D

10. You'd have to speak to George Shinn
he seems to be comfortable with the name "Hornets".

You might, however, find some support in Charlotte...

4. And the most famous call of all...
I remember it quite well, nearly the exact wording.

1997, game six.

"2.8 tenths of a seconds left, we're tied at 100, game six on the line here. Russell to Stockton, Stock for three...he got it! John Stockton! John Stockton! It's over! The Jazz win it in! We're on our way to the NBA Championship in Chicago!"

Oh baby!

7. Ahhh....I remember it as good as you. Longtime Jazz fan, and Stockton stalker here.

StocktontoMalone is one word, when he said it.

I'm going to Springfield MA in September to see him get inducted and I have to endure No. 23's presence, but I'm strong enough to handle it now. The therapy worked. :P
