"Boston Legal" is saying Good Bye, in a two hour finale
if you are going to set your TiVo.

The local TV critic commented that "Despite the show's success over the years in ratings and at the Emmys, ABC has always acted a little bit embarrassed about having "Boston Legal" on the schedule."

Wonder why. It certainly highlighted important issues in our lives.

Of course, ABC supposedly told the producers of "Grey's Anatomy" to "de-gay" the program..

1. The scathing satire might be a little real for ABC. BL is the only show I watch on a
regular basis.

the cast is great. Even the supporting cast is great. Henry Gibson as the judge is golden.

2. Sad to see it go. I don't buy TV series on DVD, but I might get this
one because, not only is it funny as hell, it will be a great historical reference to some strange times in this country.

5. Murphy Brown with Candice Bergen, too, was a great program
and really reflected that time and could provide historical reference. Which may explain why it never went into syndication. I don't know if there are DVDs. There certainly were not in the late 80s early 90s.

12. Never missed an episode of Murphy Brown. She was such
a bad influence on the American way of life. :patriot:

Wow, David took the show out on a great insider "jump the shark" moment. HA! He kept it just silly enough for me to not get all teary-eyed through the whole two hours. It was obviously two episodes stuck together and it almost felt like the first hour should have been the last hour. No great criticism from me, though. I think David E. Kelly got to voice his opinion on just about every subject he wanted to. What am I saying?? He could do a whole other series on all the great storylines that come into his fascinating brain. Google his name and find some interesting articles on his future plans and the stuff they got away with on Boston Legal.

3. One of the most intelligently written shows on TV, imo
...despite how unrealistic Denny and Alan's antics can be. (IRL, the two of them would've been fired for sexual harassment a long time ago.)

I wonder if they'll be putting yet another reality show on in its place--'cause everyone knows it's impossible to have too many of those. :sarcasm:

10. ABC has been advertising a new program about Homeland Security
agents - their difficult job - I.kid.you.not.

ABC Schedules a ‘Homeland Security’ Series
By Brian Stelter

“Homeland Security USA,” a reality show produced with the full cooperation of several agencies of the Department of Homeland Security, will have its premiere on Jan. 6 on ABC.

In an announcement Thursday, ABC said the production “has been given unprecedented access to the agencies,” including Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Transportation Security Administration and the Coast Guard.

The show will spotlight the work of border patrol officials who work on land, sea and air to keep the United States secure. ABC has ordered 13 episodes of the series; they will be shown on Tuesdays at 8 p.m., opposite “American Idol” on Fox. While reality shows about harrowing jobs have prospered on cable — think of “Deadliest Catch” and “Ice Road Truckers” — they have yet to find an audience on broadcast TV.

I'll be watching House on USA network during this time slot.

13. Their other new Monday night show is called "True Beauty"
or some such nonsense and it's yet another reality show. This time they're putting a bunch of pretty people together and secretly watching them to find out if their "inner beauty" matches their "outer beauty."

I won't be watching Homeland Security USA, either. My first thought when I saw the commercial was, "Oh, goody. Propaganda."

For this dreck they canceled Boston Legal? :( Here's hoping there's a spinoff on a different network.

17. I think that "24" will come on Monday
and I will be watching this one, again instead of, yes, the dreck that they are offering.

16. I know. And another one about beauty contest
Who will be watching this stuff?

On the other hand, I was thinking yesterday that the only sure source of ads for them are the Viagra and the other drugs so perhaps they are building the shows that would attract this audience.

4. Two hours. One hour of BL and one hour of commercials
I love this show but I have to Tivo it because there are sooo many commercials that by the time they get back to the show I've forgotten what the plot was.

14. That's what I'm hoping, Gray.
Did you catch the comment from Denny Crane about this?

He mentioned, " another show"

Alan- " on a different network"

Denny- " one that cares".

I think we got a VERY good picture of Kelley's relationship
with ABC,here.

Kelley has been using these last few episodes to really voice
his opinions- good for him- he's one of the best writers around!!

Damn, I'm going to miss this show!

All the intelligent programs- Gone.

the dumbing down of America is in full force!

:(

15. It was great,LOTD.
David Kelley tried to wrap up all the loose ends, here.

But he left room for another show(s), which is encouraging!

19. Sebastian, i wonder if any of the Supremes
caught last night's finale.

I bet Ruth Ginsberg would get a kick out of it,
she seems have a good sense of humor and
there were lots of references to her.

:)

Clarence Thomas' character was spot on!

21. Me too, Frogmarch!
It was the best show on TV, imho.

I always watched it with my son, who
also loved the characters and plot each week.

ABC really lost a great show.

:(
