What to do when facing the prospect of spending Christmas Eve alone?

For the first time in 11 years. Some have said church, but I don't belong to any, and I'm against the whole organized religion thing anyway... I could volunteer, but I'd still feel so fucking alone.

2. My little MB will be with her dad on xmas eve and

since I am recently separated, I will be spending xmas eve alone as well. My mom is going to come stay with me, but it's still alone.

I think we shall go out for dinner.

if you're near Cincinnati, you can come with me and my wife to the out-laws' house in Hamilton. I'll warn you though: they're Republicans. On the bright side, since the election they have been strangely quiet about politics.

if it helps. Sometimes I preferred it, and sometimes it got lonely.

I'd say see if you have some friends up there who also are not going anywhere.

Wrap presents, listen to classical music on the radio or watch a movie, and be glad I'm not stuck with somebody else's holiday agenda. I like my solo Christmas eves.

That'll put your feelings into perspective, especially if some of them are children. And you'll probably feel great about volunteering for weeks.

10. I haven't spent Christmas Eve alone per se, but....

....with the exception of last year I've spent it away from my own family (i.e. my parents and sisters). Given that my mother is Ukrainian and Christmas Eve is the most special of the nights--moreso than Christmas Day and to the extent that we opened our presents on Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day--I felt a little sad being away from them. My wife's family doesn't do anything on Christmas Eve.
