Any Doors fans out there? The Lizard King would have turned 65 today
Edited on Mon Dec-08-08 12:24 PM by PlanetBev
Can you believe that? Jim Morrison as Social Security collecting senior citizen. That would have been frightening. I can't imagine him as anything other than 27. I can't even imagine what he would have looked like now.

I got to see The Doors in '67 (at my high school) and in '68 at The Hollywood Bowl. Anybody else have Doors concert memories?

2. I imagine he'd weigh about 300 pounds, have snow white hair and look like shit.
:)

As for Doors memories, sorry, none -- he died before I was born. I really dug the band for a while, though. Got a bit burnt out on them, but it's still fun to go back and listen to "Changeling" once in a while.

4. The Doors
The first time I saw the Doors was on American Bandstand.Dick Clark introduced them as The Doors and their Wall of Sound. They had 5 or 6 Marshall Amps in a semi-circle behind them.

7. huge Doors fan- and never got to see them dammit
watched black and white concert footage of them in Europe from '68 on PBS Saturday night. Morrison lived about 2 miles from where I live now when he was in junior high; I drive by there once or twice a week on the way to the store etc, and never, not once, have I not slowed down just a teeny bit, to look at that house ( Candalaria Blvd in Albuquerque). I'd forgotten it was his birthday, and yeah, hard to imagine him as a 65 year old man.But the same with most rock stars who died young, can't imagine Jimi, or Buddy Holly.... oddly enough, for some reason I can imagine Janis Joplin though; maybe because of being a blues singer, not just a rock star.

8. Back around the time the movie "The Doors" came out, The Gap printed an ad
that showed a hypothetical "old Jim Morrison". They morphed his face from the Young Lion session with the body of a pudgy middle-aged guy wearing Gap clothes. Anyone remember that?

Anyone able to find that pic online?
