Yesterday I bought something that I know will make Rev_acts jealous...
Dammit, I couldn't find a picture of the box art!

It's Kingdom Hearts Re Chain of Memories for the Playstation 2.
For fans of the series on DU (uh...all 2 of us) this one takes place between KH 1 and KH 2. It was originally released for the Gameboy Advance, but a lot of people didn't get to play it, cause obviously a lot of people don't have GBAs. This is, of course, a significantly updated version. It's worth picking up if you've played the original Chain of Memories (they added some stuff), and it's REALLY worth getting if you've never played Chain of Memories as it answers a LOT of questions.
Uhm...it's also hard as hell. Definitely a 'kick you in the ass' type game.

So, Rev...ya jealous? Hmmm?

2. Only 30 bucks, too.
But I'm not joking when I say it is really hard.
on the bright side, if you're a fan of Axel, you get a lot more quality time with him here, heh.

3. I'll have to order it.
The name is Axel, got it memorized?

4. Yes, we are. Even dorks have friends.
:P

In general the Organization people have much better character development in Chain of Memories. They have actual personalities beyond 'I am mysterious evil person in black with personality quirk A and elemental power B'

5. Ha.
Do I have to fight the Organization again? Because there were some really annoying bastards that I don't want to fight again! *whines*

6. Well, yeah, but they're all different. No Xaldin or Demyx.
Though you do have to fight Axel.
To be honest, a couple of the ones in Chain of Memories are every bit as annoying, unfortunately.
Especially Larxene. You will hate Larxene. Hate hate hate.

And...you will also learn to hate Captain Hook, strangely enough.

8. What, you didn't enjoy getting hit over and over and over again with no chance to do anything about
it?
:P

10. You'll love Larxene then. It's like fighting a faster, more obnoxious Xaldin.
Chain of memories uses a weird card-based combat system which actually requires some strategy. If you have a bad deck, even an easy boss can be really hard.
I find that part of the game kind of fun, since it actually has a lot of depth, and you can really mess around with what kinds of cards you want to use.

I don't understand. No smash and bash? ;(

12. Well...
it is smash and bash. You still hit things. But now you use cards to do it. So if you just attack randomly, you'll lose badly. It takes getting used to, but once you get a halfway decent set of cards, you can shred most enemies easily. The whole concept is weird, but it makes sense once you get used to it. The card system DOES have its advantages...if you get good at it, you can use it in ways that make tough bosses a lot easier.
Just hope you don't mind having to THINK a little ;)

13. Sounds interesting
If I ever got a playstation I would try that game. I like the card combo games, assuming it is like the collector card games, where part of strat is creating your deck, then you have to play off of opponents actions, with the cards you draw, or are in your hand.

14. In normal battles, it's just a matter of having a higher card than the enemy.
But when you get to some of the more advanced bosses, they have their own decks, special cards, and strategies. You can try and move to avoid attacks, but you have to figure out ways to interrupt their attacks and cause damage. With the right cards, you can stop their big scary super attack and pound on them while they're stunned...but they can also do the same to you.
However, if you were to play it, you'd really need to play Kingdom Hearts 1 first, or you'd have absolutely no idea what's going on.
But Kingdom Hearts is a fantastic game, so that's no problem. :D
