An Artist's Life for Me by Charles Fernandez
Graphite neath my fingernails, acrylic on my face, ink stains on my brand new shoes, I'm in my state of grace.
When focused on the paper, the world just falls away, No Time, no space, exists beyond, When the pencil is in play.
Laying out the concept, in broad and graceful arcs, the form takes shape before me the life inside it sparks.
It's will to live fulfills me, for my will is to create. symbiotic destiny, This is artistic fate.
Fleshing out the figure, and it's surrounding space the progress is much slower now, though I've not slackened my pace
Creative bliss is broken, when the daylight dares intrude. This sketch began at sunset, I need some coffee brewed.
Tighter, ever tighter, the details doth unfold. I'd like to put this piece to rest, before I get too old.
The task is finally over, the battle finally won, worse than giving birth to twins, this masterpiece is done
Time for the unveiling, my creation takes it place.. And some dumbass says "hey, that's pretty cool! I'll give $5.00 for it.." So I punch him in the face.
Yeah, definitely in my state of grace.
