She's still in contact with him, and they're still friends, but he got married to somebody else shortly after she found out she was pregnant, and she didn't want to cause issues for their marriage.

Based on the area, and the one pic I've seen, LK's Dad is probably standard midwestern issue Heinz 57, probably German and Brit mostly.
