New Line Confirms ASH is in the Freddy Vs.Jason sequel (& maybe Dead 4?)
Well, after all the bellyaching and whining all over the 'net about whether or not there would be an Ash presence in the Freddy Vs. Jason sequel, New Line has finally officially revealed that it is, indeed, in the writing stages.

Along with updates on a lot of other forthcoming New Line properties (including The Watch, which Victor Salva is reportedly rewriting as we speak), Dark Horizons has learned that Freddy Vs. Jason 2 now has a 20-page treatment in existence written by someone named Jeff Katz, and it does include Ash from the Evil Dead films. New Line is negotiating with CAA/Raimi to see if they can make it happen, with the intent of making Evil Dead 4.

So are they trying to convince Raimi and his "people" to allow the character to appear in Freddy Vs. Jason 2 with the promise of backing the fourth Evil Dead film? That's what it sounds like to me, and it seems like a fairly weak arrangement if you consider the clout Raimi now has in Hollywood might allow him to make whatever the hell he wanted to. Then again, he's technically only had one extremely successful movie (soon to be two), so it might be a sweet enough deal for him to agree.
