LOST, the Dharma Institute and ABC jumped the shark...
I am a big LOST fan and during this time waiting for the next season to start, a "Dharma Institute" was launched via someone and it was a fun little site that sort of bridged the mythological bounds with trying to "recruit" people for Dharma. There were all sorts of interactive games to play. And the better one would do, one would receive a "grade". It was a fun goofy way to keep up the long pause caused by the writers strike.

Now, ABC in their totally stupid ass wisdom either bought up the site, served them a cease and desist or whatever.

Now the site is just totally pawned.

It was a real sort of bizarre new age-y type of thing that let you have some fun.

then I got this bizarro letter saying that the Dharma institute is now working in conjunction with ABC TELEVISION TO HELP YOU BLAH BLAH BLAH..

Skier, shark, jumped.

I just got another email which now pushes the Dharma Institute to the back of the bus and totally promotes ABC's halfwit lame ass attempt to capitalize on this once fun site.

I know this is totally pointless in the grand scheme of things, but it's just one more thing that the corporate assholes dung their claws into and completely ruined.

2. Are you talking about Dharmawantsyou.com?
Assuming you are, it's an Alternate Reality Game. It was being run by ABC in the first place as a marketing gimmick. They do it during every hiatus. The one after the first season was the best though. This one was kinda lame.

4. If true, then what is the point of them bringing up ABC?
it seemed to work as it was, introducing ABC to the mix only removes the mystery. We all know dharma doesn't exist but it was fun to play along with the game. Once they gave up the ghost with promoting ABC's involvement the fun mystery is gone.

seems like a dumb move to me.

5. It is true, and I don't know why they're going the way they're going with it.
A lot of people seem to think it's still all part of the ARG and by bringing ABC into it it blurs the lines between the game and the real world, which is kind of the purpose of an ARG.
