Need Lounge vibes
I have a beautiful almost 13 year old cat (who acts like he's only 1) who is an inside/outside cat. It's been freezing at night here and I've not seen him for 2 days.

Something feels off. I fear he's not coming home. I really feel that.

He's had an excellent life. This is the way he would/will go. Off and never to return.

He always sleeps between my calves. "Mushes" my tummy when I'm sick or upset. Yells for me to open the door for him even if there's a cat door. Insists I move the food in his bowl closer to where he is.

He's a great cat. I really think he's gone. I can't stop crying :(

4. Don't give up.
Years ago I had a cat who snuck outside somehow on a cold day in January (I mean below-zero cold), and was gone for almost a week. We looked all over for him, tried to follow his tracks in the snow, but no luck there. I was sure he'd frozen to death somewhere and I'd never see him again, but one morning he appeared at the back door with dead leaves in his fur and a look like "What!?" He stuffed his face and fell asleep on a radiator and never tried to run off again. I have no idea where he went, but he might have been trapped in a neighbor's garage. That might be the case with your cat, too. They are tough little guys. Chances are good that he'll be back.

 my eyes are killing me from crying. He's a toughie - he's also old and we have a 9 month old German Shepard and I think she's pushed him away.

6. My dear helderheid...
Vibes for you and your beautiful cat, sweetie...

My cat was gone for two weeks...

I was so sure he would never come back...

And then one day, there he was, at the door, meowing to be let in...

If he is gone, then at least he went doing what he wanted to be doing...

7. I'm so sorry. Our next door Beagle went missing Friday.
Lucy adopted us the same day our neighbors adopted her.
They found her running down a county road during a thunderstorm.
They stopped and opened the door and in she hopped.
That was 6 years ago, and the rest, as they say, is history.

She feels it's her responsibility to guard both houses now.
Nobody can pull into either driveway without Lucy alerting us with her high pitched bark.
And she goes with Miz t. and I on our daily morning walks.
It sux when pets disappear.

27. Give it two. Cats sometimes take off indefinitely...
but then magically return! Especially male indoor/outdoor cats. Happens a lot.

I have a feeling you will snuggle once more! :grouphug:

20. lost cats
generally do not go far. even if he was an outdoor cat, he likely had a small territory. so, look close to home.
are there any neighbors that might have taken him in because it turned cold? he wouldn't be the first cat to have a "vacation home" in the hood.

good luck.

22. don't fret yet (easy for me to say)
I'd go bonkers if any of my cats were gone that long, so I do understand, but don't worry about the cold... if cats can find a place to curl up out of the wind, they're usually just fine. Our neighbor's cat REFUSES to come in, no matter the weather (and it's been 14-15 here at night lately) and he's just as fine and perky as ever.

But one of my childhood cats just left one day, never to return. It is hard, especially the waiting period until your heart lets you know s/he's not coming back and you get to grieve for the loss.

You have all my vibes, as does your kittyboy to make it home safely.

24. Cats are funny that way.
My last apartment, my cat would disappear for hours and also two other cats would come in my place just to 'hang.' Whethre my cat was home or not (I had the window open and heat off all summer, and most of the spring / fall.)

My cat would go to the neighor's apartment to hang, and the cats who would come hang at my place also lived in the apartment complex.

They don't think it disloyal at all and will come home when they damn well please.

I don't think I've ever had a cat that didn't do that to me once in a while -- go for days and just freak me out.

I would certainly check the pound. I don't think cats are required to wear collars where I live.

25. Oh dear...I'm so sorry to hear that...I'll keep hoping for the best,
but I understand your concern, and your pain. We have kitties too, strictly indoor, but I dread the day we lose one of them. They're really our babies!!
 Keep us posted, and of course, vibes and all good wishes coming your way!

28. I'm holding out hope. I really want to be wrong about this feeling.
I've had him gone before and I've worried about him before - this time it's not worry, it's mourning. I just feel him gone but I really hope I'm wrong.

29. You have my vibes
Also my hope that your cat will return. I've had two cats pull that number - disappear for weeks, and make me think they'd died. Then they showed up again. Sometimes I suspect that when cats are feeling poorly they crawl off somewhere to recover on their own. It certainly would make sense from an evolutionary standpoint for them to hide when ill, even though they'd probably be better off staying with us where it's warm and there's a hot line to the vet.
