1. Keith Richards might not know he's the only live one in the lot.

3. You want Hendrix as you lead vocalist?
Even he was reluctant to take on that role.

4. But he did, and was damn good at it
Edited on Thu Nov-13-08 09:36 PM by charlie and algernon
Plus, I thought having Roger Daltry would be a bit much. If he doesn't want to do it, I'll hire Freddy Mercury or John Lennon to sing.

24. But he's great.
He's so lionized for his guitar work that I think he's actually pretty underrated as a singer.

26. What he sang, he sang well, but I seriously question his ability to move out of his comfort zone.
Might I suggest we put Janis Joplin as lead singer, and keep Jimi on guitar and the occasional singing role.

Vocals: Mike Patton
Bass: Les Claypol
Guitar: John Petrucci & Yngwie Malmsteen

It would either not work, or it would be so awesome and unique it would blow your mind.

21. Primus would be high on my list of 80s and 90s influences in my post below!
Hell, I played The Brown Album on my stereo one day when my then 70-year-old mother was home and she loved it! She thought the drummer and bassist were very talented, and when I started explaining the lyrics to some of the songs she about died laughing. :)

31. I almost threw up in my mouth when you put Malmsteen in there.
My thought was:

Guitar: John Petrucci
Bass: John Myung
Keyboard: Jordan Rudess
Drums: Mike Portnoy

Vocals Freddie Mercury.

Malmsteen..he'd fuck up everything besides I hear he's Petrucci's guitar tech now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MefjovJJr-0&feature=related

If you had to add another guitarist, and you don't, I'd put Satch in there. They're friends anyway.

Malmsteen... :puke:

But he can play. And he had one good album, the first one, except when he sang on it.

20. There are already too many bands out there who are/were perfect as they stand.
But it sure would be fun to create random permutations from the members of:

Renaissance
Dream Theater
Gentle Giant
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Yes
Genesis (Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett eras especially)
Rush (Yup, I fucking said it. Sue me!)
Pink Floyd
Kansas
Chicago
The Beatles
Kraftwerk
Tangerine Dream

and even sprinkle in some 80s influences for the catchy songwriting and cool pop hooks...

And just let them rip.

The possibilities which have never been realized are just endless. :)

He played guitar, mandolin, keys, and every other instrument recorded by the band save drums. I'll bet he can play the accordion.

37. I think supergroups are fun, though, you're right, not long lived
I like the Willburys and Blind Faith particularly.

You can't really expect so many creative people to get along for long, though. They're all MAVERICS after all!!!
