Prayers, Vibes, Energy, etc for my Mom, please?
Sigh...We just got back from the hospital.

My Mom has fainted 2x this week and hit her head. She now has 2 blood clots on her brain. The Neurosurgeon says that they are "non surgical", meaning that they are small enough that they should resolve on their own. She has been admitted, for at least 24 hours.

However, I don't want her released until they can figure out why she's fainting. My brother works 9-5, and he's terrified she'll fall when nobody's home. I just emailed her Neurologist and ALS nurse, who are at the hospital she's in (that's why they took her there instead of somewhere closer to home), asking them to help.

I'm exhausted. And worried.

Thanks.

4. I'm so very sorry about your mom and what your family is going through
Now is the time to get that "Life alert" thing that the former top medical adviser, Koop suggests that everyone who lives alone should get one. That way if she falls all she has to do it press a button and the ambulance will come stat to pick her up.

Hope everything turns out well  :grouphug:

21. Hey my friend

You know how it goes with this disease...Making sure they knew she can't have solid food so she doesn't choke, needs help taking her meds...Ugh. On the bright side, the Neurosurgeon was happy with her grip and such. I don't think the fainting is ALS related, but we need to figure it out.

I hope you are well. :)

22. dear Goddess
Your mom is in my thoughts sweetheart. I agree with you 110% about not wanting her released (if possible) until the fainting mystery is solved. How is she? Is she responsive and able to remember anything prior to fainting?

I'm so sorry you and yours is going through this.

23. Oh, she's fine otherwise
As far as "fine" is with her disease, that is. Responsive, writing me notes (she can't talk), etc. She does have a *massive* black eye from the first fall though. :o

Thanks my dear friend. Hugs are most appreciated.

24. I am sorry!!
Could it be those clots making her faint? I am sure they would've said so if that were the case but I know brain clots can cause fainting!

that surgery is not necessary at the moment. I hate uncertainty.

30. Do they have her on anti-coagulants or something to break them up?
My Mom had a pulmonary embolism back in March, and she was in Montana, and I was ready to go hop in the car and rush to the airport, because I was scared to death she was going to die.

She's fine now. Well, fine by her kinda low health standards anyhow.

32. Thank you...She won't be "healthy", but
I would like her to be home and safe. She has ALS.

I hate that she's 100 miles from home in a hospital. It sucks. It took them 7 hours to get her out of the ER and into a room. :wtf:
