I hate smilies.

I have to get this off my chest. I know it is going to just get me replies with smilies in them, but GODDAM, I hate smilies. I particularly hate the shrugging one and the eye rolling one. Both of those make me want to hit the person who put them in their post. I don't mind the barfing one or the one where they are toasting with beer mugs. But the 'smug' ones drive me crazy.

8. My opinion is that smileys help convey tone

It's easy to be misunderstood on the internet because no one can hear the inflections you hear as you type something out. I don't care if someone wants to be smug as long as I understand it's smug. Then I can reply accordingly.

Though I'm not sure how the shrug conveys smug so maybe my whole premise is flawed. :rofl:
